Mr. P. sent photos is of the hats in progress. I was told all four would ship this coming Monday.

Three antelope finish:

One “flecked fur” with an overwelt brim.

The marine blue hat appears almost black in the photo but It’s the deep blue as seen in a previous photo getting pounced. I’ve suggested that he take photos in natural light, but I get the feeling he’s too busy for that.

Four great looking hats! Looking forward to your review after they arrive. I just ordered mine. Only the color of the ribbon and edge binding to be finalized.

Like most quality hatters, Mr. P should send you a photo of the proposed ribbon/binding draped over the felt for you to review. The only issue is sometimes the light or general photography isn’t up to snuff and the rendering isn’t accurate. Still, it’s usually close.

I’ve been fielding some PMs and if the quality of these hats is as expected I hope others will send Agnoulita some business.

Mr. P and I have discussed his offering a Fedora Lounge special deal with some unique attributes (liner, sweat markings) and selling to us at a discount if we can reach a predetermined volume. Sort of like the FL edition Campdrafts offered a few years back but on custom hats. Do you think there would be any interest?
The initial price we discussed was $125 plus shipping. Early days and may never come to fruition. He is sending me sample swatches of the antelope finish felt to show the the Lounge so who knows?

I can see how an FL edition would possible, but as you said it depends on the interest here and on the quality and consistency of his work.

Mr. P. has said he is willing to send photos of any ribbon and felt comparison I want. I asked that he send a photo showing the light grey fur felt next to the grey ribbon. I also wanted to make sure he understands I want the brim edge bound as well.

I've never ordered any thing custom, so I am a little concerned something I truly want will be missed. However, what I am changing in the hat is not much. I've asked for the sides of the hat to be as square to the brim as possible. I believe Mr. P. refers to this as boater style. I've asked for extra pouncing, which he noted, and I've also asked for a one inch ribbon.

It's good to know there is added interest in this hat maker. Let's hope that all our hats from him not only meet our expectations but also exceed them.

I missed out on the Lounge CD (pre-addiction), and would be all over this. The hats you have shown are a great value for the money. Count me in.

Mike, he hasn’t gotten back to me with the volume he would need for the special pricing. Nor has he set a firm price. I’ve suggested a special FL satin liner and embossing on the sweat. If it goes forward I’ll let you know.

GREAT idea, and a great thread.

An FL hat would introduce his product to paying customers likely to buy at least one more hat, and it would be sweet for members and longtime readers!

My four hats are shipping tomorrow (today in Greece). I was promised some more photos too.

The proprietor is (so far) excited about the idea and he wants to go forward with it. I’ll post updates.

I received a couple of photos of my bright blue thin ribbon. I sent Agnoulita a screenshot of Short Balding Guy’s cadet blue hat and asked him to duplicate it with a bow change. Hard to say how accurate the photos he sent me are but here they are:

These photos make it look more electric blue, but I doubt the colors are accurate.

Examples of Agnoulitas inaccuracies in color rendering. These are photos of the same hat taken a few days apart:

This bottom photo is the more accurate. The felt color is caramel but the top photo looks almost like pecan. And it’s not just the felt, look at the ribbons! His photography sucks, but his hats aren’t bad.

Big thanks to Perry and Brent for bringing this maker to our attention. It prompted me to ask if they can size hats in long oval. Within minutes, Mr. Pappa relied,"We would enjoy creating this hat for you or any of our styles in the long oval. All you will need to do is enter your customization preferences in the 'note to the seller' section at checkout with any listing, and I will do my best to create a lovely hat for you to enjoy."

Based on that, I ordered a Milan straw from them. https://www.etsy.com/listing/280832282/milan-straw-fedora-fine-milan-straw?ref=shop_home_active_1

FWIW, D'Aquino could not produce a hat in long oval.

Roger

Roger, have you received your Milan? I’d love to see the photos!

I hesitate to write this because I want our experiences with this hatter to be positive, but I haven't heard from Mr. Pappa in a week since making payment on my hat. I did write to him after paying because I wanted to make sure of a detail before he started.

This is my first purchase on Etsy, and I wrote to them about something I didn't understand on their website. It's when you are in the process of a custom order. Although I made payment, the "Item purchased" icon is not checked. You see this icon when looking at your conversations with a seller. It's highlighted but not checked. Etsy couldn't explain it either. I wrote to them because I was concerned Mr. Pappa hadn't received payment, and that's why I didn't hear from him.

Well, I'm hoping that this is just normal, and my hat is on it's way of being made.

Perry, his communication is much improved from my first order; however, he still doesn’t answer all my emails. Sometimes he’ll send me three emails in a day and sometimes I’ll ask a direct simple question and days go by without a response. Weird. He also occasionally emails me on Saturday and Sunday (even taking into account the time/date in Greece). I’d ask again and write that you were concerned because he didn’t answer your first email.

I recently placed an order for a Milan with the requirement that it would have the brim width I needed and he has so far ignored me too. I think he’ll answer, it just takes time. For what it’s worth, I had to send two emails and wait over a week for Art Fawcett at VS to reply to me on some work he’s doing and that was after a phone call where he promised to email me immediately. These shops get busy and emails are down on their list of things to do even though it is bad business. Heck, Mike at Northwest didn’t answer for a couple of weeks. I do have Mr. P’s phone number if you need it.

The good news: my four hats just cleared customs in NY. Maybe here by the end
If the week?

I need to learn patience. It's the not knowing what's going on and trying to fill in the gaps that causes concern. I'll wait a few more days and write again if I don't hear from Mr. P.

Looking forward to the reviews of the your hats.

Brent, I haven't heard from Mr. P yet. I'll give him a couple more days then write if I don't receive a message.

You should get your hats soon. Looking forward to the reviews.

New hat day X4! Review and photos to follow. In the meantime, Agnoulita also sent me some felt samples. I tried to get some natural light in both full sun and indirect (shadow) lighting just as a reference:

Hit me up if you want a closeup of any color(s) in particular. I was told that the Peach Bloom bodies are smaller and might not be suitable for large sizes (I’m a 62). Just FYI. Also be aware that even though these felts might sometimes share the same name with other manufacturers the colors are different.
