thanks Carter. I always forget about Wikipedia. I had never heard of this artist till now. Figures. Someone may get a really good deal. :eusa_doh:
I love Asian stuff but know nothing about it. It is my dream to go to Japan one day. I think I would enjoy it.
What a collectors dream to be able to collect a series by this person. Very interesting. I am always amazed when I find some other collectible field I don't know about. Why I love what I do.

foofoogal, I looked at your ebay listing. Those are most likely modern reproductions of the artist's work. Hiroshige's work is often reproduced on calendars and as prints. The images are lovely.
Have you had any luck with vintage shops in your new home area? I spent a fair amount of time in that part of Arkansas in the mid-late seventies.

Not alot is available but I did find a nice Art Deco piece for $6.00 that is worth $300.00. Is that what you mean?
I personally consistently find my best deals at unique places believe it or not. It is a game I play with myself. :p
I have a good eye and it is all in the hunt for me. I have a ton of my stuff boxed up in storage so limited. Still doesn't curb my addiction. ;) I just limit myself and honey humors me. While some women get jewelry and things I get to dig thru junk to see what I can find. He just waits for me. lol
It is very hard for me to see and hear the part the economy is playing in the antique and collectibles field. Very hard and I feel so sorry for some of the dealers.
Now since my area is the home of the I-64 long fleamarket I am hiding my pennies. Not till October though. We actually moved here that weekend in October and missed it.
Thanks for the info on the prints. I had no idea and they are pretty though for decor.

Hiroshige was one of the artists belonging to this genre.
He is also known as Ando Hiroshige--安藤広重.
http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/hiroshige_ando.html
He is known for landscapes rather than portraits, and a good original print can cost in the range of $KKs , and are museum stuff.
He is probably best known for his landscapes of the Tokaido route that ran between Edo (Tokyo) and Kyoto.
A lot of ukiyoe streamed into the western world from Japan in the form of wrappings for china such as Kakiemon in the late 19thC, since it was more in daily perception like newspaper rather than art then. What was discarded as trash here in that era ended up as treasures in Europe and the US, and as a result had some influence on western arts of the era.
Much of what is in the market now, and in good condition are, as carter says, modern copies.

If you do get the chance to visit Japan, let me know :)
