Hillside Leather?

I am 6'6" and thin, needless to say there are no jackets on the market that are even remotely close to fitting me. I'm looking to have a custom leather jacket made, while not trying spend a fortune on it. I have looked at a few companies for customs, Lost Worlds, Aero, langlitz, Schott, Vanson, Lewis, and all are pretty pricey. Then I stumbled across Hillside Leathers. They quoted me a completely custom (not just 2" added to length) horsehide jacket for $650. I asked for some leather samples and they sent me horsehide, 4-4.5oz naked and 3-3.5oz top grain. The leather looks pretty good, but I admittedly don't know much about leather. Does anyone have any experience with Hillside leathers? It seems to good to be true, especially the lifetime guarantee, and I haven't been able to find any opinions on the company anywhere on the internet. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,8. I had a hillside horsehide vest. It was "their" ultimate horsehide vest, it was far from my ultimate vest. I'm not even sure if it was horsehide. It almost seemed like it was made from a rubber material in some spots. The leather they used for the vest was also quite thin. I was a little disapointed when I got it. I guess you get what you pay for. I would not recommend them to anyone. Hope you get a few more opinions.

I'd keep looking

I purchased a HH jacket from Hillside several years ago, and was not impressed with the quality of the hide or the workmanship. It wasn't really cheap garbage, but it really wasn't something to show off, either. If you haven't done so already, I suggest you contact Fox Creek Leather (I gather from the list of companies that you're looking for a riding jacket). Fox Creek doesn't offer horsehide, but their cowhide is top-notch, quaility is great, and customer service is unbeatable. Not as pricey as Langlitz or Aero, but not as many styles offered, either.
