I'm looking to sell my recently restored vintage Highwayman leather jacket. It's size 44 but these jackets run small, I'm a 38. It's in great condition and is approximately 40 years old. I'm asking £475 including postage. Please see pics with sizes.

First time I’ve heard of a HWM running small.
In my experience I’ve found that early Aero Highwayman jackets do appear to be a size smaller than later ones.
I’ve had several from the 80’s & early 90’s. Although these were tagged ‘44’ the measurements and fit were largely the same as those from the 2000’s which were labelled as being ‘42’.

Just out of curiosity these are the measurements for four Aero Highwayman's I currently have, or have had.
The first two jackets are Connolly steerhide from the mid-late 1980’s. Both have 44 tags. The other two are CXL FQHH with 42 tags and are post 2000.
As you’ll see the various measurements for all four jackets are virtually the same, or at least within the ½ inch tolerance normally quoted by Aero.

Connolly Steerhide 44 (1985-1987)
Pit to pit: 24 1/2ins or 62cms
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 20ins or 51cms
Neck seam to bottom of jacket: 24 1/2ins or 62cms
Shoulder seam to end of sleeve cuff: 23ins or 59cms
Pit to end of shoulder sleeve cuff: 16ins or 41cms

Connolly Steerhide 44 (late 80’s)

Pit to pit: 25cms or 64cms
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 19 1/2ins or 50cms
Neck seam to bottom of jacket: 25cms or 64cms
Shoulder seam to end of sleeve cuff: 24cms or 61cms
Pit to end of shoulder sleeve cuff: 16ins or 41cms

CXL FQHH 42 (post 2000)
Pit to pit: 25ins or 64cms
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 20ins or 51cms
Neck seam to bottom of jacket: 24 1/2ins or 62cms
Shoulder seam to end of sleeve cuff: 24 1/2 pins or 62cms
Pit to end of shoulder sleeve cuff: 16ins or 41cms

CXL FQHH 42 (post 2000)
Pit to pit: 25ins or 64cms
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 20ins or 51cms
Neck seam to bottom of jacket: 25ins or 64cms
Shoulder seam to end of sleeve cuff: 24ins or 61cms

This particular jacket is early to mid 80s when Areo used Connolly Steerhide. It had been boxed up for 25 years and I'd forgot about it. Came across it when my parents moved home. It had some minor damage and a small hole at the front, All repaired
