OK, option two; there has been this guy in Israel on ebay selling black, w-i-d-e brimmed Borsalinos for peanuts, fifteen, twenty, twenty-five bucks! And only $20 shipping. How can ya' go wrong? Beats the tar outta wool. Wool never fails to disappoint, in my experience

It does seem to me that the movie hat is fur felt, not wool.

I think you may have misunderstood my intentions. No doubt the actual hat in the movie is a beaver fur felt of the finest quality. My aim was merely to have a bit of fun in transforming a 'worthless' hat into something interesting & at a minimal cost. I never intended to create an exact replica, as in 100% scren accurate, of the hat .
To be honest with you I doub't I would inflinge such harsh treatment & humiliation on an expensive fur felt hat anyway so I prefer to reserve my twisted creative impulses on wool felt hats. :D

The way you've made your wool hat is absolutely fine for that look, I don't think it needs to be fur felt in this case. It's a High Plains Drifter hat! You seem to have accomplished your mission.

I've got to thank you for the mention of the Borsalinos. I don't think anybody could go wrong, if it's their size.

Those are some pretty interesting hats in their own right & at incredibly low prices & unbelievably low shipping costs.
Problem is, even if there was one in my size I'm not sure it would arrive safely to my front door as there is quite a bit of hostility along the way towards anything emanating from Israel at the moment.
Great link though.
