From the "Finds and Deals" thread earlier today...
I wrote to the ebay seller, Mintvintage, and asked about the jacket and the maker. It appears we have a new player in town:
So very interesting! They seem to be a good deal cheaper than the others, so I'm curious about that -- I'm guessing they are probably not near the quality of Aero, SB, and the others, but for the price they might be a good value. But I'm wondering whether they're really made in the UK, or if they're made somewhere like Pakistan.
My curiosity is piqued. I think more competition is a good thing, most of the time. As long as they're not doing business unethically, as some of the cheaper "fake" brands we occasionally see on ebay do, with stolen patterns or even stolen images, but inferior materials and workmanship. (Not that I'm suggesting anything of the sort with this maker!) But I'm very curious. There's a enough of those "image thieves" on eBay that I'm a little skeptical that at this price point it's a little too good to be true, but I'd like to know more before I make a judgment.
I've bought several jackets from mintvintage over the years, and they're generally a good seller, and they carry a lot of vintage leather jackets that are very interesting in their style, but often too small. If they can do modern repros of their more distinctive items, in good enough quality...
Same seller also has a number of Grizzlies, and this:

I have never heard of a Hercules Leather Co from London, England, so no idea what quality it is, but it sure looks nice. Good thing it's too small for me.
Thanks.I hadn't realised that the Hercules were brand new. Those grizzlies look good value for the money especially as it is a bit of a niche style.

Mintvintage said:They are a new buisiness who are making vintage styled leather jackets that are new. I supply them with any rare jackets I come across for them to use as the pattern and in turn I get to buy the new jackets from them. I have three up for sale and the quality is really good for the price. I think its worth buying seeing as they are the first ever made they might be valuable in years to come. Watch out for other designs as ive given them quite a few special jackets to work on.
Best Regards
