Help with this Cockpit G1 sizing

I found a Cockpit G1 M422-A for sale (new but surely a few years old), a few pic below. It is sold for a very tempting low price (even though I don't like much the patch on the left chest), but the only remaining size is a 38.
At 5.11" and 164lbs I am usually a 40R and I never tried a Cockpit jacket
From the seller infos this 38 is about 18.2" shoulders, 25" sleeve, 20" pit-to-pit and 25" back length. Compared with jackets I own, shoulders, sleeves and length could still be OK, my main concern is chest, as my jackets (included an A2) usually are 21-22" chest. My actual chest measure (with a shirt on) is about 38". Moreover I don't know how much the bi-swing back can help here.
So I am asking an advice to those of you that own or know this jacket, and I know that the newer production are bigger compared to the previous years. Anyone has one of these in 38 and can give me precise measurements and hints about sizing?
Any suggestion is very welcome, thank you

My impression from trying on Cockpit G-1s over the years is that they are good, slim fitting jackets.

Your mileage may vary, but I would not normally size down in one.

That would be my thoughts as well. I purchased the Cockpit mill spec G-1 a few years back and I found it to be a nice trim fit, very similar to the vintage G-1s I own.

Not sure what hints specifically you are after but if you are asking do they fit small, the answer might be yes. If you know your ideal chest measurement I would stick to finding that size as a known thing. I spoke to Cockpit USA about sizing and they recommended a 44 G1 for me and a 42 in their A2. In other words it is still the case that their G1's fit trimer, with narrower shoulders.

I'm eyeing a 100 Mission, but in a 44.Figure it's about 1.5 sizes bigger than my chest and having a larger size will act as a "tall". I'm about 170, continually gaining weight, but thin.

Thank you very much, feeling it could be too small I will probably look for an original/vintage instead, as prices are not so prohibitive yet.

I am your height, 39.5" chest and 160lbs approx. I have had a few Cockpit G-1s, a couple of originals and high end repros etc.
Cockpit's 100 Mission G-1 is great jacket, look for one in a sale and you score. There are a number of online vendors who offer them on sale and price match.
I would not size down! The 40 fit me well.
I wear a 40 or 42 in originals, depending on the maker. They have a weird short body, long sleeve thing going on.... So bare this in mind. Tall and trim, I'd go your normal size in a LONG.
The Forrestal version (without the fur collar is same as 100 missions).
Originals - if you can find one in decent condition... and fits well... YES. However, if it needs any tlc or repair, I have found this becomes pricey and unless you get someone who knows what they are doing, they can muck it up.

Where do you find them cheap? The long 42 has close to 29 inch sleeves, which means tunneling for me.

I have found the one in the pics from an online vendor in Italy for 175 euros ($195) but they have only a 38 left and I prefer not to risk of getting a too small one. About the leather, are these cow (pressed like goat) or real goat?

I believe most of the Cockpit G-1 type jackets are goat. My 100 Mission is labeled as goat.
