Help with repair to a straw hat

I recommend bookbinding glue.
It is fast drying and won't show.

It is used a lot in women's cocktail hats.

I'm thinking of pre-treating the peak of my Panama hats with super-glue. Why not reinforce that critical area before the fibers start getting stressed? I don't ever handle my hat by the peak but it still fatigues there anyway. I have a custom Cuenca that after a few years has now finally cracked there. Sad. Maybe next time I'll get a Montecristi but i'm also wondering about prevention...
