So now I have to decide on the style...

I thought I would go for buco style
No windflap
No kidney panel
Angulated front pockets
Two zippered side pockets
Antique brass
Navy Vicenza
No contrast stitching
Maybe navy sateen for the sleeves
And shepered lightweight tartan for the body or st abbs check tweed

Not sure about the split back? What’s your take
Thanks
Cheers philip

Split back with kidney panel or with upper yoke

Or just upper yoke without split back

Three options not sure which one to choose.
Maybe someone can help :)

I prefer no split back with just upper yoke. I've had both and I couldn't tell any difference in fit, its purely aesthetics in my experience.

Also if you go zippered handwarmers, I prefer the zip to be in the down position when closed....just makes sense to me but that isn't the standard configuration.

i did notice on the photos that the board racer has different configuration of the arm zippers....the zipper shows, whereas with the cafe racer the zipper is covered with leather. not sure if i like it without leather

The top-zippers on the Board Racer have exposed tape because it's not built into the seam. The Cafe Racer style back sleeve zips are built into the seam and therefore have leather piping that hides the tape and most of the teeth. I don't think you'd be able to mix and match the elements due to the construction.

So it arrived today.
Colour perfect
Workmanship perfect as usual with aero
Arm length perfect
Body length could maybe be a hint shorter (1/2 inch)
But unfortunately at the stomach it is too wide

What do you think?
Cheers

Looks good, great, perfect, choose your adjective. I can't see what you mean about the waist.

I believe it was mentioned though that a BR was not a tapered jacket, so this fit would be normal for the style.

Thank you , yes holly and I thought about a tapered cut , but she mentioned if I would taper it ,I wouldn’t be able to change it.

The zipper on the third picture is closed and ....well there is plenty of room :) a few inches off would be perfect .

In the 3rd picture you are leaning back to emphasize the waist of the jacket. I am sure that when wearing it normally, especially when worn open, it is not really noticable.

Yes, in the new pictures looks good to me. I would suggest not worrying about it. If it does bother you, the only thing you could do is an alteration to the jacket, or order a CR in the BR style.

I tried to stand pretty normal , but it is very noticeable compared to my other jackets.. I think a few inches off would be great . I am going to see with holly.
But I am very pleased how the colour turned out and everything else...
Well I am into my 5th aero now , so maybe a bit nerdy.

Thinking about it, I don't think you can alter this jacket, there are no side panels connecting the front and back that could be made smaller. You may be looking at a new jacket if this bothers you. But wearing it open... seems like nothing to get unhappy over, since you wanted a BR and was you were advised it would fit like this.

Obviously Holly would know best. Good luck!

Yes she is really very helpful. I ll talk to her.
Just measured it ,and you could take away 2,7 inches at the waist tapered up to half an inch to the middle of the front zip.

Your jacket came out really well..I suggest leaving a little room in the waist.. in 10 years you'll be happy for some extra room in that area..

Haha :) i hope you are not right ;)

Another question... the arm length is spot on now , but the arm hasn’t creased yet. On my other jackets some have gotten significantly short in the arm with creases ,others didn’t change at all.
Any long term knowledge on Vicenza?

Regarding arm length, in my experience. Vicenza loses less length from creasing as it’s a more pliable leather and not as stiff but then again, the degree of creasing will depend on how long they are to begin with.

If the sleeve is long and it bunches on the wrist the creases will be more exacerbated and you will lose more length...if the sleeve isn’t too long and doesn’t bunch at the wrist you will lose less....if that makes sense?

Also regarding the waist. If you are slim your hip measurement is probably larger than your waist and as this is a longer style designed to cover past the hips the lower circumference of the jacket has to be big enough to fit over the hips ..... this makes the waist measurement “too big” and gives excess material at the waist while still fitting at the hip. I have this on my Aero BR, as you wear fit in and it drapes better it shouldn’t be as big a deal.

V - just a perspective: don't overthink it. It's fine. Sometimes people and their jackets are a bit like teenagers with body-image problems - is my nose too big?; are my legs too skinny?, etc. I would probably have it a touch longer in that pattern. But that's personal taste.

I think this fits well and the sleeves probably won't shrink. I have owned 40 jackets over 35 years and no sleeve has ever shrunk on me. I have a Vincenza half-belt and the sleeve haven't shrunk after several weeks. They are still 26.5 inches long despite wrinkling up like the embalmed corpse of Rameses ii. But maybe Vincenza is an inferior leather. I like the look and feel of it but the proof is in the ageing. Jackets that look boring at the start can end up with much more character than jackets which look great when new.
