Help me replace my dying Florsheims?

Well, my trusty (Indian-made, 1990s-vintage) Florsheim cap-toe oxfords have finally let me down. The leather facade on the top is starting to flake away, revealing the structural material below. What’s sad is that they haven’t got many miles on them - the soles have never even been replaced!

I just hit the Bass & Co. website, hoping to find something like my favorite pair of brown oxfords, but in black, but everything has a rubber sole. I absolutely must have a leather sole.

Anybody know where to source a decently made, black wingtip or cap-toe oxford with a leather sole for a reasonable price? I’m not in a place right now where I could justify paying more than maybe $150 for a pair of shoes.

Thanks,

Dave

I'd go to ebay first. You can find a pair of gently used earlier production made in the USA Florsheim Imperial wing tips or AEs for well under $150. If there is nothing in your price range or size that you like give the Allen Edmond's shoe bank a call. They have been running sales lately and might have something that you like in your price range. 262-284-7158

Ooh, the Florsheim Imperial wingtips are a great looking shoe. I'm going to try and nab a pair in size 11.

I remember seeing a few in thrift stores years ago. They were built like tanks!

I love my old Imperials I got off of ebay. They are really comfortable and they look great, it would be my first choice if I were replacing a pair.

These vintage Florsheims were delivered to my office today. I love ‘em. So much so that I may have to pick up a couple other colors.

Well the Florsheims being replaced weren't exactly vintage. I got them new in high school. The pair of shoes I got as a replacement were of far higher quality. So, with that in mind, maybe Stacy Adams would have been an adequate replacement for the '90s Florsheims.
