No one was yelling, just pointing you to a source for your questions. The search function leave much to be desired, so Alan was kind enough to compile a list of most often asked questions.

No problem Bud, it's just that your font is rather large which gives the impression of yelling. I was just having a little fun. I think Alan added the hat storage area in the sticky after I posted this question. If not, I do apologize.

I actually bought museum quality glass that protects things from sun and etc. and used that to replace glass on a large cabinet that can sore about 50 hats and accessories or other things. It was expensive but I love it. Not only does it store them properly but it also is perfect for showing them off.

Got any pix?? Would love to see 'em.

Hats....schmats! (for the moment, gents) I still salivate when I see GWD's Chevy BelAir. OK, I'll make you cry - my grandmother's mint turquoise and white BelAir with under 5000 miles original miles was supposed to be mine...and at her funeral, two of my jerk cousins drove up in it...they commented on how long it took them with hacksaws to cut the roof off (!!!!!!!!!!!) to make it a "cool convertible" - this was in 1978. And one of them still wonders why I wouldn't help him save his business from going under in 2003... The other had a motorcycle accident on the 1 year anniversary of Gram's death. Proved to me there really IS karma... Now if only the $35-40K necessary to buy a similar BelAir would only fall into my lap...

I am drowning in hats too. A year ago, I was buying my first straw hat in an antique shop, and now I've got several akubras and a bunch of vintage ---how does this happen on a college budget? They just seem to sort of spawn on my doorstep, as best I can figure. But seriously, I want to keep them decently, and so I've been trying to find a vintage hatbox (preferably of the same make as the hat) to accomodate each lid. That was working, but now my bookshelf has nine rather bulky hatboxes on top of it, and there's another closetful. I think my hatbox idea is failing quickly. I will probably be getting some hat hooks within the next month or so, but I'm not sold on the idea yet. It seems to me that unless you either wear the hats all the time (felt in a Kansas/Missouri summer?) or dust them religiously, they will quickly look rather dirty, not in boxes.

However, it's clear that the hatbox idea is impracticable for me, as I don't happen to have extra rooms just hanging around, begging to be turned into warehouses.
