The suit has arrived today and will definitely need to go to the tailor. What wasn't really visible in the ebay photos is the fact that the pants have a Hollywood waist - no waistband, double pleats up to the top, dropped belt loops and all. I'll take a closer look tomorrow.
I had some time to really look at the suit and...well...
No alterations have been made so far. I just grabbed the ripper, let out the cuffs and folded the hem back onto itself to get a rough idea of the look. And you know what? I'm not really sure if I like it...
It might not be discernable in the photo but the pants do have a touch of zoot to them, as does the jacket - the shoulder padding is quite substantial (the seller didn't mention the padding at all in the listing)...
Here I am scratching the back my head...
There are no tags inside, no union label or anything, only sewn-in initials which makes me believe that this is a bespoke suit.
Not too much, really. It's just that the heavy padding in the shoulders feels strange. And they distort the sleeves a bit below the shoulders. Plus, I'm not really used to tapered legs anymore (I do have some faint memories of the 80's, but that was a long time ago...). Well, the suit would have to go to the tailor anway. We'll see.
