So I'm looking at two jackets , a Lost Worlds Saburban in Black buffalo hide and a Vanson Hardcore Highwayman ( third choice is a Hillside cross zip in horsehide ) . Both are about the same price and same condition . Really like both , and they are completely different styles. What are the pro's and con'sin the comparison?

If you don't have a Crosszip yet, the Vanson. Otherwise the other one. I think it's easier to wear because it's plainer.

Vanson.

They're both good jackets but this Suburban on the photo belongs to LW's long discontinued Flamingo line, which isn't really illustrative of the brand anymore. The Flamingo jackets were intended as light(er), more easy to wear alternative to 4 oz horsehide but what they turned out to be was just mediocre versions of their jackets so Lost Worlds quickly dropped the concept. They sell hard, too.

So any Comp. Weight Vanson is lightyears ahead of this particular LW - Otherwise, the price difference would certainly have simplified your dilemma.

Wow, didn’t know that. Useful info for sure. Thanks, Ivan!

This wasn't something well known even then which was... 10 years ago? I can't recall but anyway, if I hadn't stumbled upon the Flamingo jacket by pure chance, I wouldn't know, either.

LW would flip a lot of them thru their eBay page (grapemoby) and a lot sold to Japan from what I heard.

They're not bad-bad, just not nearly up to LW standard. The cowhide was near identical to your budget run-of-the-mill Pakistan made biker jacket - Sturdy, quite thick but dull & without much, if any, character.

The one you're looking at is a model HC. I would personally avoid it because of the lower back stiffener, which would likely be even more extreme (or HARDCORE?) than the model E. Fantastic for riding, but not for casual wear.

Oddly enough, HC is weirdly uncomfortable with terrible reach. The sleeves are pulling on your biceps if you try to extend your arms so much. . .
