I was wondering if that's what was going on. The fountain pen is getting harder and harder to find. They stopped carrying it at all the Staples here in Boston.

Try Office Depot at the store and online.Thats where i bought mine.

Thanks JD.
I might just buy a few to have for in the future. They really are great pens.
I'm learning, albeit slowly, that there are a lot of FP's in the $60 range that are really great workhorses, as well as well styled. I have a few higher end, more expensive pens, like a Cartier, Mont Blanc, and Aurora. But, I find that, with the exception of the Aurora, I don't use them all that much in fear that I might scratch them or do some other damage to them. I know, for the price, I should use them a lot, but I'm really seeing them more as collectors items. I keep them in their original boxes and usually only take them out to write letters or occasionally a journal entry. Such a shame, I know I should get over my fear.
But, I do have a nice Cross that I love to write with that was not too expensive. Also, I bought my Conklin at Levenger while they were still having their really big FP sale. Which, by the way, if you have a Levenger store near you, get yourself their. They are still liquidating their non levenger brand FP's and you can get your hands on some really beautiful pens at a huge discount. My Conklin was about half price. Check their website, they don't have a lot on there, but the stock changes weekly. So you might just stumble across a pen that you really like/want for a really good deal. I
As for Levenger, I think this is a sad, and kind of bad move that they are making, getting rid of all brands of FP's but their own. I bought one of their brand, and am not happy with it at all. It doesn't post well, I don't like the nib, and the converter does not fill right. I brought it back, they were more than happy to give me a new converter, but the same problem occurred. I do hope, that since they will only be selling their brand, that they have done an overhaul of the pens that they make. The one I bought had been discontinued and was on sale. I hope that they are introducing a new product line. For if they are not, I think they will lose a lot of customers with the current product they have. They had such an amazing selection of FP's from all different makers. It was great to have a store filled with pens to try out. I think this is a bad move on their part. Just needed to gripe:)

I was doing some hunting around online last night, looking for a reasonably priced leather zippered case, so I can start storing my fountain pens, and I couldn't believe how many pen shoppes are on line!
Well, I found a few pens that I'd like to order, by the way John in Covina, I'm making that call today, and I'm psyched!!! OK, back to these pens I've found. I don't know much about Libelle of New York, but their pens certainly do look nice, and my goodness, are they reasonably priced. But, before I order, I thought I'd ask you ladies and gents here if you have had experience with these pens? What do you think of them? Also, in regards to nibs, does a fine actually write fine, or will it write more like a medium? As said in previous discussions, everyones nibs are different.

Anything you can tell me about this brand would be greatly appreciated. They certainly do make a nice looking pen, but what's the point if it can't write!!!
They are really low in price, for what you get in comparison to other brands, and again they are really nice looking pens.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give:)

I have bought a couple of pen cases from Swisher. They seem to get a variety of cases over the course of a year.

Ebay may offer a good chance for a selection of pen cases.

I will be going to the FPS in Monrovia today to drop off a sample of a pen for a young man that visited there last Saturday. He is starting with a fe rollerball pens and will move on to a fountain pen later this year.

This is very dangerous to me John!!!!I could get into trouble on these siteslol lol lol

The great thing about pens are the little space they take, the frequency of use(compared to other hobbies) and how inexpensive one can find a good pen.Makes collecting a delight.

I know what you mean about dangerous.

:eek:fftopic: I seem to recklessly adore writing utensils, pens particularly, and school supplies in general. I have more pens and empty notebooks than I know what to do with right now.lol They make me happy though, and it could always be worse!:eek:fftopic:

I am currently eyeing the Waterman Phileas in green with an extra fine nib, and their Ethnic Chic with the fine nib, oooooohhh pens!:D

I just got another Phileas, the marbled green one. I have had a bunch of the European models, which go by a different name, but they lack the styling. The one I got is a medium nib, and behaves very nicely. In fact, I think they are generally more reliable and user friendly (i.e. start writing immediately and keep going till they are out of ink) than any other pen in the price range, and better than pens two and three times the price. I have several collectible pens--new and vintage--by another famous manufacturer, but they aren't nearly as dependable.

For whatever its worth, to add to this reckless Phileas thread, I too have two Phileas Waterman's: a fine nib blue marble and a medium nib green marble. The medium nib writes considerably more smooth for me. The fine nib seems a bit scratchy. Is this just the pen I have, or is this everyone else's general experience? In any case, I love the Phileas model: classy, affordable and not the end of the world if you lose it.

My fine-point Phileas was a bit scratchy till I doodled a bit (just a bit!) on a fine hone with it. Now it writes as smoothly as the medium nib Phileas I have.

Where are you folks finding extra-fine nibbed Phileaas pens? I was under the impression they only made Fine, Medium, and Bold nibs....

Could you tell me exactly how you did this?
