So...stretching actually does work? I haven't read a lot of positives about it, but if it could work this time, then, probably only then, could I grab one of those Borsalinos to hug my 7 3/8 brainbox. Did I write 'brainbox"? Where did that come from?

Well Bud In Texas I no doubt passed on the homberg you purchased on e-bay due to the size. I, like yourself, wear something between a seven and a quarter and seven and three eights. I generally find that Stetsons and Resistols run a tad bigger than the Knox or Dobbs hats so oftentimes can get away with a seven and a quarter in a Stetson or Resistol. I have a hat stretcher but prefer to buy a hat in seven and three eights when I can find them. However, you are to be commended for your planning and resourcefulness in finding this hat and realizing the potential within it. Most folks would have said well it does not suit me so I will give it away or sell it. Instead you applied some imagination and elbow grease and turned out one peach of a hat that not only suits you but seems to be gaining a following among others (me included). Please pm me soon with your address so I can ship you out a homberg for the shall we call it "Texas Treatment". LOL
