I am going to Hofstra law school in August and have been having a hard time finding somewhere adequate to live. I just want a yard or a balcony, a nice bedroom and a bathroom with a tub, closet space, and proximity to my school. Maybe a washer and dryer. I am not even pinching pennies, I can pay around $1200 a month just for me.

WHY IS THIS SO HARD?

Can anyone help?

Hello,

Hofstra ? Why that's 2 minutes from my office. Finding an apartment like that might be tough in this area of Nassau County for anything under $1700 a month. Try looking in Suffolk County - a better value. I live in western Suffolk County and I have a 45 min. to 1 hour commute - one way. Appartments go rather quickly on LI. As soon as there in print there gone! My father is a real estate broker out here. If you would like you could give him a call at ... well I will email you that info.

Ciao.

I'm not willing to give up two hours of my day for commuting though - I need that time to study. It seems like there are places under $1700 listed on craiglist, they just aren't all that nice. What are some places to look besides Hempstead, Garden City, Mineola, Floral Park?

Thanks for the info!

Yeah, the commute isn't helpfull. I can't stand it. But it's better than the 3 hour round trip I used to do when I lived in midtown. Oh well...

Try looking in Williston Park, it's a nicer area. Hempstead is a slum... but that's my opinion.

Carle Place, East Meadow, Garden City, Levittown, Uniondale, and Westbury are all OK.

Good Luck. I have been through two fiances and they are both law students. It's tons of work, thats probably why I was canned.

Powerhouse, yes, I think that was the place. Big warehouse sort of space with a lot of rooms. I remember seeing a guy in a 20s/30s suit and brown fedora and glasses, and I wondered if he belonged to the Lounge. There are so few of us around here! Small world. You ought to have come to the event.

Regards,

Senator Jack

Ah, I have many not-so-fond memories of commuting on the 495 back when we lived on Lawn Guyland.

We lived for about 5 months in Elmont, which isn't too far from Hofstra.

We lived for years in Patchogue - which is pretty far from Hofstra.

The event sounded swell... except I don't go into Manhattan anymore. See ya 'round.
