I thought I'd take a few moments to introduce myself, as I'm new to the Fedora Lounge. My name is Wade, I live in Quebec, Canada, and I have a particular interest in flight jackets, particularly leather A2's and B3's! And...I think I've learned more from the member's posts here in the last 2 weeks than in years of my own research. Thanks for the great information on a lot of the different companies. There are so many of them. I wish I had discovered the forum before last March when I bought my first A2 from US Wings. Sarge was a pleasure to work with, but I found the jacket (as it seems many of you have) quite a big and generous fit. As I understand most of you have many A2's in your collection, so I feel ok having more than one! My wife doesn't seem to get that, but it nice to be with like minded folk. I'm currently doing some research on a new or used A2, and when I have it a bit more narrowed down. I hope to solicit some advice from you on the forum. "Talk" soon. Cheers, Wade

Welcome aboard, Wade!
Don't sweat the fact that you feel like your first A2 purchase wasn't the finest choice. We've all been there for one reason or another - and as one's appreciation grows, so do the prices!
Looking forward to seeing how your collection grows. And feel assured that if you hang around here, it will! :)

LOL ! My wife doesnt get it either. I have a cheap faux G1 for everyday work, a good G1 for casual dress, A recent purchase G8 for cold weather dressy and a nice A2 in my closet for everything else. However, she has over a dozen coats in her closet with the excuse that theres a coat for every style of clothing and type of weather outside. GO FIGURE !

Welcome @Wade! I started some years back with US Wings myself! They make a decent jacket, but once you spend time here, you'll see the difference between the VW and the Ferrari's. It's a fun journey, and I honestly think people should not start out buying $1500 jackets. The fun is in learning and finding what you love. It takes time and money, but that's what I've enjoyed. Anyone with money can just go buy expensive stuff. Enjoy the ride!

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome!! I feel better about that purchase already. :) Not sure about ever getting to a Ferrari, but maybe above a Volkswagon would be nice for now! I'm definitely one for enjoying the journey of learning! Thanks again !
Cheers!

Welcome Wade . . . the twelve step meetings are Thursday evenings.

LOL. Superfluous, that's funny.

[Spoken sullenly] "Hello. I'm Stand By. I'm an addict".
[All] "Hello Stand By".
"I'm so ashamed. My girlfriend came home early and caught me watching porn. You know. It's easily done, right? She goes out. You're all alone and you think you have some time. To indulge. So you reach for your best DVD that always hits the spot. The Hunters."
[All collective groan in approval/sympathy] "Oh yeah".
"You think you can handle it when you start out. Just two jackets. It seemed enough for me. An A2 for 3 seasons. An Irvin for winter. For 18 years it was like that. It was good gear - and I could handle it. <sigh> Then I found The Fedora Lounge. Suddenly it was 6 jackets. And C-3 vests. Not one. No! I wanted two! Then B-2 caps. And gloves. And … it wasn't enough". <sob> <sob> <sob>

Hi Wade and welcome to the Lounge. I have been to Quebec on a couple of occasions and found it to be a lovely city filled with Frenchmen. :D Unfortunately you will find participation injurious to your bank account.;)

Hi, Wade, and welcome. Think of it this way: where else can you go where you can revel in freezing temperatures and icy winds and act all superior, condescending, and smug toward us poor unfortunates who are forced to endure the tropical sun during winter? Also, I'm with Fanch (above). I've been to Quebec a few times and must say that I really enjoyed it.
