Thank the gods that for every Lawrence Welk and for every Glen Miller there was a Charlie Barnet, a Woody Herman or an Artie Shaw.

But who am I for questioning the need of so many people to love corny, crappy music?

I see. So you have positioned yourself and your parents as Experts in Good Music, and those who disagree with you are not in the know and therefore it's fair game to make rude remarks to them. I find that lame, ridiculous and not in good taste.

There are many things (fashions, music, etc) people love on the FL that is not in alignment with my own taste or I find silly, but I don't tell them how wrong and ridiculous they are. It's one thing to say "I don't like this, it's not my thing" but quite another to state they do not have good taste.

One of the things I enjoyed about coming here is that there is a tolerance and respect for those of us who appreciate sometimes innocent and even schlocky things of yesterday. I don't see that here anymore.

Since when does an opinion = an insult? Maybe in your universe, but not in mine. No, an insult is "anybody who likes LW is a moron." Which is not what I said. Read the post.

I reserve my right to be as embarrassed by ppl like LW like a Black man would be embarrassed by Flavor Flav.

Where do you suppose in 500 years in what esteem will Benny Goodman be when compared to the contributions of LW?
And, given that question, why would you spend your limited time on earth listening/watching LW when you could be listening to the Benny Goodman Quintet?

Oh Man, the poor chap has Exophthalmos! and your saying he's scary. Let's face it, we all probably look like freaks to someone who doesnt like our look. The man has a great deep voice and I like his "Cheesy" music. The Christmas with Heino is IMHO much better than most modern Christmas shows but hey there's something for every one.
