I use a Tresemme one. Can't say whether it works any better than any others, I've had it years!

Are you sure your hair doesn't just need a cut? Hot Sticks really aren't like tongs or straighteners that put a lot of heat directly onto the ends so it may not be the sticks that are doing it. Also, starting to use the heat spray now won't cure it.

Ah yes you may be right I have a cut booked next weekend so should sort it out. Yeah your right it may not be the sole cause but I do have fine naturally curly hair and it may just not like the change I guess. Thanks for the suggestion I'll give treseme a go its usually the best value and their range is pretty good! :) by the way your avatar pic is fabulous how did you style your hair in it it looks very Katherine hepburn I love it!!

I second the Tresemme thermal creations, this is the only brand I ever use. I curl my hair quite often with hot sticks and this heat tamer spray is a dream to use. Here is how I use it. I grab a section of my hair spray the whole section lightly and comb it in to distribute the product evenly on my hair. You donot want to soak your hair otherwise when unroll your hair it will be wet. The wonderful this also when using the heat tamer, there is no need to use a setting lotion. Double good.

I use one from Aveda. And it works wonderfully!
Also using the hot sticks will cause damage to your ends just like anything else. Because even though they may not get as hot, the heat goes on your ends and stays on them for awhile, where as with the flat iron or tongs it goes over the ends quickly.

I agree. Maybe your ends might benefit from a trim. I tend to use a little serum on the ends when i dry my hair too.

Jasmine Jolene - good to see you back!!

Ah thanks for the tips ladies, just bought tresame and it works a treat! :) Though as jolene haspointed out I think the natural curl to my hair is prone to damage so just sticking to a hot stick set once a week. A tip from me which works pretty well is lightly coat the ends of your hair with pomade or wax it helps with the hold however go easy as it does increase brushing time in addition to combing mousse through before and spraying the whole set with hair spray. If you want the set to have a longer and stronger hold, sleep with the sticks over night (if you can bere) with a slumber net and scarf over. If your struggling with the prevention of finger burns then wrap end papers around the ends of your hair, though this makes for a softer set.
