But go and enjoy it and, whatever you do, don't go to the pub before you go in! I'd never go in to the ELC tent at RAF Duxford after I'd been to visit the Spitfire Ale lorry - and head in there feeling all buoyed up and a bit more free and easy about life. And my credit card balance. I'd get a beer
after! ;)

So true....I can still remember the one time that I went to Duxford alone.....

Layman, just be sure to email or call American Classics and check. I was in these stores just over a week ago and there is no stock besides that Star 38... Stagg has nada.
Personally, if I had a free day, Id do the trip to Ivybridge. Take a book, enjoy the scenery... Nothing compares to trying on the jackets and chatting to the folk there.
You will walk away, perhaps with a jacket... at least with a very clear idea of what jacket you want and your correct size.

in light of Brettafett's report (which is why TFL is such a good learning resource!), if you're dead set on an ELC jacket and if you have the time for one day, I'd now agree with him for a day return train ticket out to Ivybridge. And he's right - the rolling Devon countryside is lovely.

Just curious, what size are you looking for?

Well, I'm a normal size 42R.. wearing a size 42 Vanson Model B, size 42 Aero 1930's half belt, size 44 Eastman B6

If the above reports are true and American Classics/Son of Stag are sold out.. c'est la vie. I will take that a divine sign to just enjoy the trip itself instead of dragging my wife and daughter on an A2 hunt. :) Cheers folks!

I was really surprised that Stag and Classics any when I was in last month, but when I read about the pop-up shop in the city, it made sense. I have no idea how I missed the ELC shop when I was in the east end, but as far as I know it's very close to Stag, so I can imagine there would have been an interesting conversation when that little announcement was made...

I always thought that it was the Stag that helped them to organise the event. I was talking to one of the ELC staff there, he claimed that they did it mainly for promotional purpose, not really for retailing.

Absolutely, make the trip to Eastman if you can swing it! The extra duty, taxes, exchange rate that you would encounter from HPA to Canada would more than pay for the trip to Eastman. It's in my plan the next time I get over there.

Yes, the stores were literally next door to one another... There was no competition ;) even last year Nov, Stagg had only a couple of jackets left. (I suspect they picked up a few odd ones, because the .50 cal they had was a horsehide version and the Monarch was a 'very' Long. Neither of these jackets are normally returnable to ELC, so I wonder if they're somewhere picked by Stagg...)
I know ELC are very happily trying very hard to keep up with orders. Business is clearly good despite rising prices and intercontinental divorces.
I recon ELC being there would be great for Stagg, more like-minded people popping in.
