As I understand, with an Hawaiian shirt, the style is: the louder and more garish the print, the better.

-If you're talking about 1960s and on up cotton, "Hawaiian Punch"-style aloha shirts, yeah, "garish" is the operative word. But the collectible silkies from the 40s and 50s are anything but garish...they're works of art.

I'm with DoubleXX on this – as with western/plaid shirts, there's a BIIIIIIIG diff between the classic patterns of the 1940s/1950s which, no matter how busy they initially appear to be, actually have a clarity of draughtsmanship and a choice of colour which is endlessly appealing, and the many, many, many poor takes on the style that have appeared in their wake and given the Hawaiian shirt a bad rep over the years... stick with a classic Hawaiian print and you can't go wrong!

Corky, if you haven't done so already, may I suggest that you pick up the 'standard reference work' on the subject, Hope & Tozian's The Aloha Shirt, the current edition of which can be nabbed for $20 from Amazon – it will blow your mind! Believe me, one leaf through the amazing shirts in this fine tome and you'll no longer be thinking that the truly well-designed Hawaiian shirt is in any way garish...

I love Aloha shirts. I wear one on Fridays during dress down during the summer.

It also goes good with the fact that I play Ukulele!

This Hawaii aloha shirt I bought on the german Ebay.
These shirts are very hard to find in Denmark, so discovering the german site, I immediatly ordered 5 shirts...the one more colour full than the other, but that`s how it`s suppose to be I guess.
But genuine Hawaii shirts they are not.
I haven`t received them from Hannover Germany, so I haven`t yet had the opportunity to watch the label, to see where they have been fabricated.
Is it ugly? anyone recognice the car on the shirt?
I will picture the rest, if I survive posting this one ;O(
greetings
Allan

The german factory informed me that these Hawaii shirts are actually imported from USA to germany Hannover, to be sold on Ebay.
If this is true, I will not know before I get them, but I am a little sceptic untill they all arrive.
They are made of wool, Shouldn`t it be rayon or silk, if for real ?

I agree that every wardrobe should have at least one Aloha Hawaii shirt.
In highschool we used them a lot, and the girls seem to like us wearing these colourful shirts, maybe also becourse they are signalling good spirit, sun and sand beaches....things which seem rather positive on a cold winter day in Denmark, but we were 12-15 boys, having a swell time in highdchool, wearing our Hawaii shirts, and even had some luck with the girls.
This is not the reason for purchasing them again though...being a happy married man, but I really like the colourful positive attitude behind these shirts, and have been wearing black for too long now.
Are any of these motives on my shirts familiar with the originals ?
Are rayon some kind of nylon?

Hawaiian Shirt turquoise

Hi everybody,

I'm looking for an Hawaian Shirt similar to the shirt of Tommy Vercetti in the game GTA Vice City.

I searched a lot on the internet but could not found a similar shirt. What I'm interested in is a shirt that tends to be as more possible as the one we see in the game or at least an Hawaian Shirt which color is very light blue, turquoise or turning to very light green. I found it very cool

If you could help me finding stores, sites that sell such shirts, it would be very nice :) Thanks ;)
