I just posted a picture of me wearing this in the "what are you wearing thread", and by request, here it is for this thread; quoted from the aforementioned thread: "The shirt, featuring those BOLD roosters, is made of the absolute silkiest, most finely-draping rayon I've ever felt. It's got huge mother of pearl buttons, and at one point had triangular shaped shoulder pads (like little pillows made of the same rooster fabric) that were hanging by a thread when I bought the shirt, so I removed them. Plus, they made me look like a football player... The shirt also has those big square pockets at the bottom front, like your typical 40's sportcoat. The shirt is made by Ceeb of Miami. I wonder if there is a matching pair of trunks floating around somewhere........."

Different geography, same idea as Aloha shirts I guess: celebrate local themes and stay cool. I think the low pockets are fairly universal in that neck of the woods, you also see them on the Gyuabera style shirts. I've seen them called cigar shirts too. The cock fighting theme/colors also seem to represent the high energy lifestyle of the Caribbean vs the laid back Aloha shirt themes. Despite the differences pretty much have a lot in common. Really nice example Jason.

A half-pint fits better in those bottom pockets. It makes your shirt hang funny if it's in the chest pocket.

Hahaha! I'm so cocky, I actually wear yellow socks when I wear that shirt that ALSO have red, black and grey roosters on them. (I'm not even joking!) :D

I was stoked when I snagged this out of the Bay, been looking for a Koi shirt for a while. Some disappointment when it arrived though. The silk is so thin it's like tissue paper and apparently as strong. A couple of issues with the fabric, the most unusual is at the hem of both sleeves where the fabric is folded over for the hem, the fabric was split. I didn't want to return the shirt because it was pretty cheap and had taken quite a while to find one anyway. After a trip to the seamstress and $10, that issue was fixed as there was plenty of length left in the sleeves. She also reinforced the fabric at the hems. However after picking it up from the dry cleaners, I noticed a few of the button threads were pulling through the fabric, the threads are fine, the fabric is ripping from the threads. Looks like another trip to the seamstress, hopefully she can reinforce the buttons. Unusual because the shirt doesn't really show any wear where you would expect it. I've read on this thread that Avanti's are nice repops but apparently not this one. Despite these issues, I'm keeping the shirt as a trophy. 100% silk, coconut buttons, loop collar, it fits and I like the pattern and colors.

Better color rendition:

Beautiful shirt Mike...absolutely gorgeous!
I hate to hear about the issues with it. Try to just wear it while you're sitting in the shade (or a.c.) doing nothing more strenuous than lifting your elbow.

I guess I haven't posted this one here before because I wasn't sure it was Aloha enough. I guess if it's a Reyn Spooner made in Hawaii it must be an Aloha shirt. I'd call this theme mid-century Tiki, 100% cotton, typical plastic Reyn buttons, and judging by the bottle made in 1999 for the end of the world party:

All the same Mike, it really is a gorgeous shirt. There's another issue that you will find with a flimsy silk shirt. It will show sweat stains very quickly. I found this out when I bought a silk shirt with a chinese dragon motif on it. The shirt is a mid-blue, I dyed a tee-shirt a similar colour to wear underneath, but it looked awful.

This is my latest shirt, carefully crafted by my wife. She bought the cotton fabric from a lady in Honolulu. Ordered on-line, arrived within three days. It depicts all the scenes mentioned in the famous Route 66 song.

GHT that is an excellent rt.66 design. Your wife did a fantastic job! You've definitely got a couple of winners. (Wife and shirt)

I'm very partial to rt.66 stuff

In case you hadn't figured that out.

That's a bummer Mike, but it's still a stunning shirt. I've got 3 Avantis, must be going on for six or seven seasons I've worn them now with no issues. I clean them and iron them on a silk setting, and they're still going strong. Ás it's the middle of winter here now and darn cold, they're folded and stored away with all my summer shirts, or I'd post pics here.

The rooster shirt is vibrant and real keeper, Hyena. You've got a great wardrobe happening there, with your suits and all and now this cool shirt.
