Some cool stories on here. I've managed to meet a few well known folks - most recently (last night in fact) stand up Eddie Izzard. Met Tom Baker once at a signing - lovely guy, totally mad as a box of frogs. Leonard Nimoy.... that was quite an experience. Very nice man. Marky Ramone, Patrick Stewart (at the stage door last February, saw him playing Prospero in the RSC's London 2007 season production of The Tempest). Probably a whole bunch of other folks I can't think of off hand.....
Oh yeah, I met Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) who was a really nice guy, Kenny Baker (R2D2), Warwick Davies (Wickett the Ewok / Willow / one of the Harry Potter teachers) - Davies was signing a photo I then got framed for little brother for his birthday, and he gave me a bollocking for not knowing offhand exactly what age little bro was. I'm still not sure if it was a wind up or if he was for real!! Rolf Harris - he's adorable, totally genuine guy.
I met James Marsters at the Rocky Horror VH1 Celebrity Karaoke event in Las Vegas, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the movie, we had a long conversation before i twigged who it was (no English accent, dark hair - i didn't know it was Spike!!). Anthony Stewart Head a few times - really genuine, really nice guy. A whole bunch of folks who have been involved in Rocky Horror over the years - the best known of who would be Richard O'Brien, Nell Campbell, Patricia Quinn (Pat lives in London, I've seen her at a fair few events - mad as a hatter too, but great fun) and Tim Curry (when he was in Spamalot in the West End last year). Harvey Feirnstein was in Hairspray when I saw it - and a bit short with folks at the stage door. Nathan Lane ran out fvrom the producers and straight into a car, but his people did hand out a bunch of playbills he'd signed - and Matthew Broderick stood for a bit, nice guy - signed my Ferris Bueller DVD too. Boy George, when he was in Taboo, Julian Clary.... dunno if he's known in the US.
There've been a fair few others that would be known on TV over here, but not in the US, so I'll not go into that! heh.
