What's that you say? You wonder what a 24th century Space Pimp hat would look like? Picard has you covered.

Kinda like the Stetson Slant!

My hats look like that naturally after scrounging around in the trunk of my car.

The many hats of Cullen Bohannon, the main character in Hell On Wheels:
I just binge watched the 5 seasons of HOW over a couple of wks. One of my favorite characters & his hats was the fictional Territorial Governor of Wyoming, John Campbell as played by Jake Weber. I'm not familiar with Weber's acting but I loved his voice too. Since the series covers several yrs time so do the various hats. Among my favorites was this brown Western Derby (made me think of Jeff @bowlerman):

I also particularly liked this wide brim:

Yet another flat top crown later in the series:

That looks amazing. I haven't heard of this show yet. His brown high crown derby looks a lot like the blocking and finish on my Knudsen Hats Bat Masterson!

Knudsen made at least some of the hats for the series. However some as pictured on their website are not quite the same as in the series. And the brown Western Derby is not pictured but I would agree your Bat Masterson looks to be very close. Catch the full series on Netflix & see what you think. You will enjoy it.

PS: I think you're right on it being a Bat Masterson.

I really enjoyed Hell on Wheels and got my dad hooked on it too. Colm Meany (Thomas Durant) is one of my favorite actors actually, due to his long time stint in Star Trek (Next Generation and Deep Space Nine). Funnily enough, Anson Mount (Cullen) turned his Star Trek Discovery guest starring role into a whole new series based around Capt. Pike.

Anyway, Thomas Durant had my favorite hats on that show too.

Ohhhhhh, Hell on Wheels. I've really enjoyed the first two seasons so far, but somehow didn't recognize the characters you pictured. Must be in the later seasons I have yet to watch.
I can't believe that photo is still up on Knudsen's website! I believe that was my first custom hat, hard to believe I've been into this hobby that long!

Every hat I've seen on that show is great. I remember really liking Common's low topper.

This looks to be good.....

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels

I watched the 1st series yesterday. While it appears great care was spent on the costumes, including hats, IMO the whole effect was ruined by factory teardrop creases. I mean, WTH? 1938 fedoras with factory steamed-in creases? I saw one hat with a center dent, but it looked so pristine it seemed out of place on a hard working street detective. The Jewish detective was played by Nathan Lane and he had quite a few nice hats, one that gently reminded me of the Mitchum hat that garnered it's own thread in the FL (Farewell, My Lovely)... the best of the hat parade IMO, but it also had a steamed-in, factory pressed teardrop crease. Ack.

So, Fargo is currently on season 4. It's on Hulu, so I decided to start at the beginning. And I'm watching this first season and thinking how does this connect to 1950's Kansas? Well, I guess I should have read something about the series, because it's an anthology and each season is stand alone. The first season was good! But not good for hats.

Season 4 though?

Timothy Olyphant just showed up in a killer hat. Baron posted about this one on Instagram, but it was in their signature 'we're proud to have worked with Timothy Olyphant over the years' phrasing which seems to imply, but does not directly claim credit for it. Though they are probably more likely to have done this style than Optimo I would think.

one of the characters in Chris Rock's syndicate is called Doctor Senator and he also has this beautiful fedora. For us hat die hards, you can see the quality of the felt when he snaps the brim down.
