Watched on Netflix a 2011 mini series, a remake....."Mildred Pearce". Kate Winslet in a dramatic performance in which she had to span the emotional gamut from A to B.....some critics called her performance as ranging from 'stunned mullet to even more stunned mullet' However I am posting because it is an awesome hat movie. Hats in almost every scene!.......as well as stunned mullets.

The big hit video game of the fall was Red Dead Redemption 2, which is set in 1899. While not entirely 100% historically accurate, there is a lot of attention to detail. The game follows a gang of outlaws on the run from the law and encroaching society. The main character is Arthur Morgan (my version below has mutton chops) and he wears a leather hat as his default outfit setting, which always irked me. I had to "borrow" this hat from one of the in game Army officers. One of the antagonists, Micah, has a matchstick in his hat band...I wonder if a c&d is coming? :D The game maker did actually get sued by the real life Pinkertons for their (apparently unlicensed) fictional depiction.

I like my stalker hat.

I love Pork Pies aka shorter brimmed hats with telescope crowns.
Ofcourse I remember "French Connection" and Gene Hackman, but who really got me started was the character Walter White in "Breaking Bad".
Here is a private video I produced a few years ago. At that time I only had a budget wool Pork Pie hat; meanwhile I have much nicer ones from Borsalino, Champ, etc.

Interesting character, Custer. He had a very heroic, but very reckless side to him. The book the movie is based on is good too.
No doubt had he lived Custer would have ended up in politics. One of my friends has an uncle (g-g-g I think) in his ancestry who was killed with Custer. In the family they have some of the letters he wrote home while serving in the 7th Cavalry. I've never gotten to read them but am told they were very uncomplimentry, almost questioning Custer's mental stability. Very grandiose & arrogant, he was.

The word, narcissistic comes to mind. And yes, I'm quite certain he was trolling for a political post, maybe even president.

His behavior in Virginia during the war proves he was all these things, and much worse. I hate that all those lives were lost on the day Custer received his due, but I would have gladly ridden with the Native Americans if it meant getting a shot at Custer!

Wouldn't it be interesting to read those letters.

I take it, it is a extended re-make of the 1945 movie with Joan Crawford.......THAT one I am familiar with. That movie got a couple of Academy Awards......one for GOOD acting.;)

Did anyone catch last week's episode of Yellowstone?
John Dutton was trying to leave the hospital when his doctor stopped him.
The Dr talked him into letting him check his sutures. .
He told John he could put his hat on the bed... and in an understated way John Dutton replied
''no I cant''.
Yep, and I agree. Can't do that. :)
