Howdy! Like the look of the grey Akubra, but never had one- how soft is the
felt, and I understand that they're durable? Please get back to me, looking at a couple of hats, maybe we can do some bizness. Thanks Michael

Well, I put my old brown Federation through quite a bit, and it's still going strong. Just keep the crown away from steam and you might not need a reblock for a long time. These babies are not delicate hats.

The crown has just started to soften up. The brim is still a bit stiff, but snaps nice and easy. With use, it will soften up, especially if it gets caught in the rain. The Federation is, hands down, the best hat in it's price bracket. I've simply moved up the hat ladder, so to speak.

Nice hats. If the black Federation were 7 1/4 I would buy it.

I'm almost exclusively a custom-made or custom-fitted hat wearer, now. Art Fawcett's and Adventurebilts, mainly. The only off-the-shelfs I'll have left after my sell-off is done will be my three Akubra beaters and the Stetson Downs that started this avalanche of an addiction.
