On Monday it was Bailey paper for a quick run to Costco in the Covid emergency zone that is Osaka. We picked up a bunch of wines and that night opened the cheaper of the two Chronic Cellars red blends. The label got my attention and a quick bit of research told me these were pretty decent wines and at a reasonable price. This one is 70% Zinfandel and the Zinfandel jamminess is certainly dominant. Very pleasant, it was.
All this talk about tastings reminded me of the wine tastings Etsuko and I used to attend in New Zealand. One of them was run by the Riedel wine glass company to demonstrate how the different glass shapes effected the taste of the wine. Every single person at the tasting ended up buying the set of four tasting glasses that they had been using. Our collection has developed from there…
