It's a blend of Reposado, Anejo, & Extra Anejo, then aged two yrs in a French Oak cask. Chamuco, it is really smooth served neat & doesn't have the bite of a Blanco. I bought two bottles & I'm going back tomorrow for a couple more for my cellar while they're available.
Good choice, its a real nice spirit, Don Julio has a clear añejo, Don Julio 70, tastes like chocolate, nice spirit too, not in my ballpark I am in love with Blancos, you cant hide defects in Blancos, anyway my Grandpa Loves Herradura Añejo, we got an agreement to drink Herradura Reposado, just in the middle, between Blanco and Añejo.

I'm no tequila expert, but I've never seen an aged tequila that was clear. Where is the color transfer from the aging Cask?

Its an activated carbon filtering process, I was with the Master Blender for Don Julio yesterday, they have this issue with Dobel as both claim to have the first Aged clear tequila, BUT Dovel is a blend and Don Julio is pure Añejo or pure Aged Tequila.

It was an accident that ended in a great merchandising tool.

Actually it increases the sweet aromatic elements in the spirit, that is why it feels soft and nice !!

Anyway it can kick like a f!&!:ing mule

I'm amazed...I'm getting a vanilla nut or butternut with a bit of coffee taste up front, which turns to vanilla baked cookie-like, followed by the black licorice & chocolate aftertaste. It would be a shame to drink this any way other than neat or maybe rocks. I'm really liking this!

Wow! I can only dream of my palate being as refined as some of you fellows. I read everything you guys post and keep trying different spirits based on the reviews and comments. It doesn't seem that long ago that one had to travel a good bit to get beyond regional tastes. Thanks.

Neat my Friend neat, in time you will get berries and even guava !!! 600 aromatic elements, twice of cognac.

Google Riedel Tequila Glass, when you try tequila on that perfect glass you can taste everything, on 7 leguas that is still artisan like made crushing the cooked agave azul pineapple ( the round center of the plant) with a Tahona, a big rounded rock, you can even taste the wet soil on it..

Darn I am getting one now, along with a Chile Relleno of 3 cheeses.

I have some Reidel tulips & small brandy's but I normally don't use them for myself...those things are expensive. But I'll try using one next time. I know they really help to concentrate the aromas.

I've added Don Julio to my list also.

BB, I don't know if I will be able to get anything more in flavors with my palate either but you can't miss the flavors as I have described them. And you have to sip it but it is so smooth that is not a problem compared to any blanco I have ever had where maybe you just throw it back. This has been quite enjoyable & I'm looking forward to trying some Don Julio.

No pictures because it was by the drink Chamuco, but I had several drams of Don Julio Reposado earlier. The aroma I got was that of a buttery medicinal/alcohol aroma while the flavor was that of dry apples, green apples, almost a tart apple. Would you agree or am I way off? The Reposado was all they had; no Blanco, Anejo or 70 Anejo Claro.

So I liked this Reposado blend of Dobel's so much I ended up with 4x750ml; 3 to be cellared away while it is still available. Bottle #216 is open. Bottles # 184 & #233 will be with the already cellared 4th bottle that I failed to record the # on.

I couldn't find that on the web HJ... I like all this teq talk between you and Chamuco. My go to's so far this summer have been Gran Centenario and Casa Noble. Both Anjeos.

Bob, I think what I actually have is a bottling for my retailer who bought a specific cask. They have 6 stores & specialize in good offerings. It says on the hang tag & label that this cask is a blend of Reposado, Anejo & Extra Anejo, the cask was filled with the blend in 2014 & bottled for my retailer in 02/2016. That's why the bottles have the special labels compared to the regular Dobel Reposado. And why I wanted to buy a couple more bottles while they were still available.

I did find this quote concerning all Dobel blended product:

"Maestro Dobel is an “ultra-luxury” brand.
Maestro Dobel Tequila is a Blended Claro; meaning: they’ve blended Reposado and Añejo tequilas, then filtered them to dial back the barrel notes and bring back a near-clear color. In this case, they’re calling it a Reposado; so: A Blanco look with a Reposado taste."

I enjoy the aftertaste of the black licorice (anise) with a bit of chocolate the most, I think. I get a bit of coffee taste up front but complexity of the vanilla depends on what I have eaten last, I'm finding out. For the full complexity of flavors it's best drank a couple hrs or more after a meal I believe.

Thanks HJ. I believe I did find a clarified blend on their site called Diamonte or Diamond. Actually I just noticed Chamucos pic but the bottle looked diff on their site.
