Back home for a brunch. My liquor shopping excursion today failed as I chose not to walk thru a Black Lives Matter rally/protest in the parking lot of my local store. Drove up and turned for home.

I am back home fixing a brunch and sipping a Deschutes Fresh Hazy IPA. It is a cool Fall day that started with frost and the Deschutes sounded like a good beer for a brunch. Barley, mushroom chicken soup is on the menu. I have some fresh sourdough bread cooling. I love fresh bread, but it meant starting the process at 5:00am this morning to be ready for brunch.

Probably a wise decision. Glad to see another bread baker around here. Is yours a home cultivated sourdough? I bake bread at least 3 times a week and my sourdough’s are my favorite. Enjoy your Sunday Eric.

I know this is not the proper place, but I'd be interested in the recipes y'all use. Maybe in skills and smarts? I'm always looking to try a new hydration or flour blend.

I have been enjoying this Hopsectuioner IPA from Terrapin lately. Even with 6 varieties of hops it doesnt seem as bitter as some of the other IPAs that live in the fridge like Jai Alai. In fact, to me it is almost smooth like a brown ale. I know 60s/70s style stingy brims are not the favorite on here, but at less tha $20 this Adam Harvard 40 makes a nice beater hat. Interestingly, the felt usually appears as a green, but the lighting in this photo makes it appear as more of a brown to me.

Skills and smarts - none here in my bread baking skills. I followed the Ameria's Test Kitchen recipe almost to a word. I let it rise only 5 hours, refrigerator tested it and backed in a dutch oven for a crisp crust. https://www.americastestkitchen.com/recipes/9076-almost-no-knead-sourdough-bread

It worked! I would do this recipe again, but let the bread rise longer for more flavor.

They may not be a favorite of many... but no shame in a nice stingy brim.

The sweetness of many stouts is why I really like porters especially coffee porters.

I continue the start of the 2020 Fall stout and porter season. I chose a Deschutes Obsidian Stout tonight. I like that it finishes bitter. Too many, IMO, stouts are sweet tasting. My preference is the roasty, clean and hop forward stouts. This stout fits the bill. Perhaps I will sample another later.

Looks tasty. It might not be good for your body, but the soul and desire is sated. Jack it is nice to have choice.

Desert/breakfast I admit that this past pandemic year I have enjoyed a late morning brunch beverage. I am that man!

Agreed! Stouts have a place, but a good porter is very satisfying. I do need to get to my liquor store and pick up some additional varieties of Fall beers.

Quickly grabbed my Worth - Walden for a quick Q run on a Friday Night Flash Sale for ribs & Burnt Ends, 2 sides & cornbread muffin! Had some Alaskan Amber in the fridge.

Dang nab it, your pics make me hungry. Plan is a late night salad before an early wake up and back to work by 7:00 am. I will live on the image of your dinner and the potential of delicious satisfying food Sunday.

As to beer, I am enjoying a Guinness this evening. The creamy bitter taste is what I thought of on my commute and so it shall be when arriving home.
