Hats and Drinks - A Match Made in Heaven

Lieni's were around $12.00 a case (24 pack) when I was an undergraduate. Perfect college beer, IMO. My taste for Leini's may have been burned out by the time I headed off to grad. school. I would take it over a maple, coffee, bacon beer any day.

Funny these beers that have been around some time are just now available here and Publix is the only available outlet in this area. The couple that smuggles in the Spotted Cow for us from WI told us about this one recently becoming available in AL.

Beer distributors have some big control on what breweries have market access. So much for free market. Do you like your smuggled beer? I liked it, but did not love any of their offerings.

Early morning and now I wait for late evening to sample a beer. Best, Eric -

Some truth in what you say. I have a small investment in a distributorship (would like to have more but that's not an option). Distributors have to rely & chose wisely those breweries & distilleries big enough to supply the product. Microbreweries often have a hard time brewing enough product to supply much beyond their own local region.

I think what BB is referring to also is that AL is still state controlled.

AL is still state controlled.

Another, that's a fact, HJ. Only within the last couple decades have the laws changed where "hard" liquor could be sold other than where it was served or by the bottle at one of the states ABC stores. Even now, if an establishment is anything other than a 'beverage' store, the liquor sales must be done separately from the rest of the store. That is, if a convenience store sells liquor, the counter, display and entrance/exit must be separate from the rest of the store. The clerk works a two sided counter but you can't even buy beer on the liquor side.

That's messed up!

Got a break in the rainfall so I took a chance wearing my Moore Hat Co to meet friends for some Dos Equis Lagers with Camarena pours on the side, & some Tex-Mex to eat. Helps the attitude on a rainy holiday weekend!

The warm weather has me favoring Negra Modelo. The crystal mug holds 22 oz, and was a gift from my mother, many years ago. She said it held the right amount for me. When I was home brewing, I bottled in 22 oz bottles. Much home brew has been drank from it, here's to mom!

Great mug, Dd and I'm a fan of the Modelo stuff myself, the Negra that is. I'm always happy to see pics of your backyard.

Not as potent as the usual drinks posted on here but I just made a new batch tonight and I’m willing to bet this hasn’t ever been posted on here before....
