Hat wearing has been tempered severely by new job

Also today there is a big problem with gang wear and it extends beyond schools (see my sports bar example).

I'm situated in another part of the world, so I can't have the deep insight in details, but I would think that the gangs were the problem - not some textiles. I don't think, the fedora had anything to do with the ganster problem in the 30s. In Denmark drugs are mainly handled and sold by Hells Angels and Bandidos. They are very often substantially decorated with tattoos, but so are a lot of quite peaceful Danes - even our former king :)

Well, it's not that the textiles are the problem, butttttttt it would be WRONG to actually kick those poor helpless drug dealers and their Glock's off the school grounds so we make it so you can't figure out which ones to buy drugs from. The "thinking" is probably that if you can't work out which guy to buy the drugs from, then it's no longer a problem...

{Sarcasm mode off} :D

I think there is some confusion that is my fault. My boss never said dont wear hats. We teach at a school where kids were allowed to wear ballcaps into class and this drove him nuts. He asked that we help enforce his new rule and even though a fedora is different I wanted to show my support for my boss. I would wear it and take it off at the door if I had a safe place to store it.

Mike, I'm sure that's the thinking. I'm not sure it'll remove sellers, but it'll probably make them more stealthy for the staff. Anyway, I'm quite sure the debate is too complex in a hat-forum. Sorry to let it slide in that direction ;)

Historyteach24: Then we are back at the missing locker. Have you tried to talk to your boss about it? In any case it would seem only fair to ask for somewhere to store clothes and personal belongings

Get a hat box with a lock and chain it to your desk. ;)

I gotta get me one of those...

I don't have a hat prohibition at the office I work at, however our low cube walls don't leave any place for a hat rack. I put my fedoras in a two drawer filing cabinet. That keeps it out of the way and away from the heat of my truck.

What about my files, you ask? I keep that crap on the floor. A mans got to keep his priorities straight.
