I've been noodling over the challenge of finding places to hang my hat when visiting some place. I remembered jamespowers' Skyhook by Vintage Silhouettes, and came up with this:

It's made from an ID badge clip and a lanyard. I flattened the clip with pliers so it wouldn't pinch and indent the sweatband leather.

I forced open the metal collar holding the lanyard loops, shortened the cord to form a 1" loop and an 11" loop, slipped on the clip and pinched the collar closed again.

I clip the hanger to the sweatband at the back of the hat and then put the loop over something, or form a cinch knot with the loop if it has to go through something. To demonstrate:

It's only five days old, but I've used it several times already.

Necessity is the mother of invention, after all! Very nice work...gonna have to tell the boss I need a new ID lanyard...seems I "lost" my last one! :)

Just need to attach the hooks and away we go

That looks great Greg, what kind of pegs are you using so you don't damage the hats? I am going to make one for my room in the new house.
