Found One!

These are very cool. I've been keeping my eyes open at the antique malls and this one turned up tonight. Its for Portis and inside the box was the felt hat stacked on the plastic one. I'm wondering if these go together like this? Anyone else have a "set" like that?

One of your photos has solved a mystery for me. I have a full-size version of the gift box that is second from the left in your photo:

I have never seen another full-size box like this one, and I have always suspected that it might be a larger version of one of the Christmas gift boxes. Your photo provides the missing link!

Are these gift hat redemption mini-hats unredeemed or did stores not have to surrender them or??

The gift boxes were part of the deal. If you take a look at the ad on the first page of this thread, you'll see where the gent could redeem the gift box for a real lid, but then keep the gift box for storing cuff-links and collar buttons.
