Hat etiquette at casino?

Some will disagree, but it depends on the casino. We have numerous Indian casinos in my area, and the dress code there seems to be whatever you have on when you roll out of your RV in the morning. I see folks in pajamas, t-shirts, work uniforms, flip flops, caps, what have you. For me, any fedora would be a welcome bit of style at one of our local gambling establishments. A higher-end Vegas (or other nicer gambling area) casino might have a better dress code. Either way, nobody will object, and they will surely let you spend your money, hat or no hat. Frank

I have no idea what "proper" etiquette would be, but I would second Frussel's post. I don't think anyone is likely to make a big deal out of it. If it were me, I'd leave it on. Though for myself, when I have hats on indoors, I usually wear them on the back of my head.

What is the etiquette for wearing a panama fedora to a casino?

I think any fedora would be right at home in just about any casino. Just wear the one that you wear in smoking joints because it might pick up a tinge of cig odor, depending on the quality of the ventilation system.

Wally <~~ has "smoking" and "non-smoking" outerwear

Given the lack of support hat wearers get, generally, I operate on the assumption that private homes and churches are reason to take my hat off. I do when I'm eating, as well. However, shopping malls, convention centers and other similar large, open buildings are, AFAIC, the outdoors and I leave it on. Damned if I'm gonna carry the thing around in my hands.

We were Mohegan Sun last October. There doesn't seem to be any dress code. People were wearing absolutely anything and everything. I did notice, however, that as the evening rolled around, the quality of the outfits on people went up dramatically, as people were now there for dinner and the shows. People wear what they are comfortable in. I wore my fedora all day in the casino, but removed it for dinner, and then the show.

What casino hat etiquette?
The only rule in the casino biz is to say yes to anything that makes someone want to gamble and lose money.
I guess there is another rule: they do not allow you to do anything that makes others who are gambling and are losing money to want to stop doing that.

I worked as a casino EMT/Security Officer in the mid-west in the 90's. Pretty much anything went there...far too many baseball caps. As far as the cigarette smoke, we had a standing joke when new rookies asked about smoking. We replied that if you worked inside the casino, you smoked!:D

I'd like to think that if I were going to a casino, I'd be wearing at least a tux. Then again, I've been warped by one too many Connery-as-Bond films.

Hi

I can only hope that the Bond Era Casinos still exist somewhere in Vegas. I'm pretty sure that they don't in the Midwest. I haven't gone, but my bet is flip flops, sweat pants, and T-shirts.

Monte Carlo of course, but doubtful for Vegas....of course I've never been a high roller either, so what do I know? Maybe in some back room somewhere...
