Does anyone have any special or one of a kind hat bands that go well with westerns. Hat bands that I am familiar with are self band, rattle snake band (Mouth and rattle), horse hair and stampede strings. I have also seen some hats with ribbons as the hat band. If you have any others, would you mind sharing?

Art Fawcett had some very simple leather hatbands on his Journeyman & Hitchhiker modes that I like...
I've bought some others of ebay & at local hat shops...made a few myself too

For Westerns, as far as ribbons go, I prefer plain thin ribbons and also ply ribbons from thin to no wider than a mid-ribbon, keeping the work clean and simple. Here's a couple of Stagecoaches that I reblocked and put new ribbons on.

This one's a thin ribbon with a Campaign style bow...I also like tall crowns with Center Dents on my Westerns

This one has a 6 ply mid-ribbon with a traditional bow...(on ribbons like this I like to keep the bow work simple)

...and I also like a traditional Double Bows on my fedoras, again, keeping the bow work clean and simple

GTDean and T. Jones, all these/ those hats look very nice. As for ribbons on westerns I prefer the tails to have a bit of length, similar to one TJ posted.

I do not currently own any westerns with ribbon work but I am checking them out when I come across them. All of the felt hats I own have self bands. The one straw I own has a leather band.

Perhaps, if I stumble across a nice and eye catching hat band I may switch things up.

There's a lot of nice choices out there for Western hat bands. For this unknown Western I'm working now I think I'm going to go with this 3 ply ribbon and a simple knot, which is also common on Westerns...All I have to do is trim the tails a little and then sew it on. My thanks to DOGMAN for the ribbon

Decisions, decisions...sometimes it's better to have fewer choices than to have many choices...Here's a leather hat band with conches that John Galt gave me. Also goes very well with Westerns. Like gt dean suggested, buy a few leather ones and change up the look every now and then...

I can look at leather hat bands tomorrow. I will have sometime to take a look at them. Perhaps I may walk away with something new to try out.
