Thanks GTDean and BobC...
Earning Eagle meant a ton to me. Was active in scouting for over 20 years.
Left the program as Asst District Commissioner (ADC).
Here is an ADC pin on my C.E.O. Think I may scrounge up another small Eagle pin like the one above instead though.
Thoughts?

Thanks...
Commissioner Goose.

I think the Eagle is a touch more subtle. I am currently on the District Advancement Committees. All Eagle Projects have to go thru me for the District Approval. Thanks for your service! YIS, gtd
You're right. I like it better too.
What the heck do I do with that ADC pin though?

Oh well..here's a pic posted and a link to a less subtle incarnation I'll use for OA Dance Team gigs: http://mongoose.smugmug.com/photos/501569596_N5TCp-L.jpg

Sincerely appreciate the feedback. WWW GTD...

Can Stetson pins be dated? For instance, I've seen the brand, the one with the beaver & pheasant, and the one that says 'Stetson', and I assume these were standard pins over various date ranges. Thanks

Goose, this one is sweet!!!
I seem to like the smaller pins for fedoras.
Thats not to say I havent seen some that look great that are somewhat big.
But the ones like this just seem to ''be'' a part of the hat!

You did good.:eusa_clap

But... I am not a fan of feathers. :)

I guess you could date a Stetson pin...but then they'd expect you to call them the next day.
Sorry that's all the value I can add to your question ScottF. Couldn't resist

Thanks RBH :) I'm getting another one just like it for my Fed Moonie.
As for feathers, I'm not too hip on them either. Got a mess of them that have never been seen the light of day.

I do have two that I wear. Given to me by a buddy. But they're fairly subtle.
One on my Sydney and one on my dark brown Fed.

Thanks again RBH for taking the time to comment.
All The Best...

Hey, a laugh is better than nothing :)

Labels are generally a great way to date vintage items - I have spent years collecting label examples from pool cues, and that, along with examples found in billiards catalogs, etc., has made it possible to come up with fairly accurate date ranges. I'm sure the same has been done with hat labels, given the diversity within brands such as Stetson, Borsalino, etc., but I haven't seen the results anywhere, so I figured I'd throw the pin question out there. In any event, I'm not a hat collector - just a historian who loves anything vintage, and who love wearing fedoras, but I'm finding it's more interesting to wear older hats, and also to know something about them.

I'm still dying to get some feedback on the age of my Penney's Marathon, based on the label, but I guess that's for another thread.

Thanks, and a tip of the hat to RBH, for this silver pin.

It's petite, but it gets the message across. (If you don't recognize the symbol, feel free to PM me.) :)

Beautiful ichthus J.T.,
That pin is spot on. Elegant but bold. Subtle yet strong.
I may not be the best trade apprentice, but we have the same carpenter ;)
