Has anyone bought the Poet from Swaine Adeney Brigg (Herbert Johnson)

I have been looking for a good Indiana Jones Raiders Fedora hat and the Poet from Swaine Adeney Brigg (they seem to have taken over Herbert Johnson) seems to be the real thing but I wanted to find out other members opinion. This is obviously a high quality fur felt hat but I also see that Borsalino do a similar high quality hat that looks similar and Borsalino are famous for their high quality felt.

Neither the modern HJ poet, nor current production Borsalinos, pass the bar for "high quality" compared to a vintage hat.

My vote for a Raiders hat goes (in no particular order):
1) Custom, see: Garrison, Penman, Adventurebilt. Made to measure, highest quality materials.
2) The Henry from Adventurebilt Europe. A blend of 80% rabbit and 20% beaver, blocked on vintage blocks which were used by Herbert Johnson. Marc Kitter of Adventurebilt speculated that this hat may be using "the" original block for the film hat.
3) The Akubra Federation 4 from The Hattery/Hats Direct. The most affordable option. Well made, with durable felt. Among one of the best made production hats available, IMHO.

I had a henry. It's a very nice hat. It took a back seat when I got my Penman last crusade though. John makes one hell of a nice Raiders hat too.

Thanks very much for this wise advice! I have had a look at them all and indeed they look great. I saw from one of your other posts that the hat you are wearing in the photo is an Akubra Federation 4, looks good.

Glad it worked out, the Fed is a tough as nails hat that will serve you well.
