I just won this and was wondering if anyone here, "Robert, Lefty, Dinerman, Garrett, Buler, Mayser," to name a few has ever heard of this maker? I thought it was interesting looking enough for me to bid on it. From the wide detailed gros, to the wide interesting looking sweatband, to the stitched brim edge.

These are shots from the seller, more to come when in hand.

I also have this posted in the ebay wins/gripes thread as well. Thanks.

Kurt, That is a fantastic find! You just don't see many old Austrian Fedoras and this one is special. I have no idea on the maker. I know Zapf uses the Hapsburg moniker. Will be very interested to see more details when you get the hat. What size is it?

6 7/8, I hope it stretches a bit without incident, the sweat looks to be in great shape though.

So it was exported to the USA. It will be interesting to see if there is any maker identification. The Hapsburg marking signifies the highest quality. My guess is 1920s maybe older.

Beautiful Hat. Has the characteristics I would associate with the first 1/4 of the 20th Century. Ultra-wide tied lace all around sweatband with scalloped edge price tag(seen on USA <'20's). A lot of curl all around the brim as well as the embossing and stitched edge. Wide ribbon and bow style too. I would be hesitant to stretch leather this old even if it looks fine. Remember its a taped seam and all the thread is very old and edge stitched into the felt.
