Yep, I am born and raised here and this has been the wettest spring in my memory.....enough is enough!
UK's driest winter in 20 years. The wettest part of Britain is the area known as the Lake District, the average annual rainfall there is around 80 inches of rain per year. One of it's main tributaries, the river Derwent, is bone dry. We need some sort of reciprocal pipeline, we are about to get a hosepipe ban.

Love that shirt! Great brim on that beautiful straw, is it from Esther?
Right first time. Hat by Esther, shirt by Tina, how lucky am I?

Watched Vigo Mortensen in "Two Faces of January" tonight. In the movie he wears a very nice Optimo Panama but when he gets caught in a downpour the hat looks much the worse for wear. A limp lump of straw slapped on his head. BUT the next day, there he is wearing a totally recuperated pristine Optimo......I cried out...."It's a miracle, praise the Lord!" startling my wife.

I had no idea, but I wore my Sunbody fedora to physical therapy this morning and put sizing tape in my Ultrafino today.

Sunbody (from a couple of weeks ago):

Guess I need to wear the Ultrafino when I go on my walk this afternoon.

Is that their standard fedora? Nice looking straw. Just wondering, how many inches is the brim?

We are off to a friend's 60th birthday later today, I shall wear the bow tie that Tina made from an off cut of fabric, left over after making a shirt that I have called: "Gatsby." It's a warm day and the party is being held in a large hall so that we can all strut off dance moves. So when the dance moves hot up I shall change into the Gatsby shirt.

Looking for a place to post this, so a tip of the lid to Matthew S. for reviving this thread. I've resisted donning a straw until Memorial Day, myself, and per my post in the "new hats here" I finally have an around the town straw, but mostly I wear straw when there's sand between my toes. That said, my "beach straws" were in need of a little upgrading, so I took some old silk ties, cut off the fat ends, and used them to create new ribbons. Whadaya think?

This one's a real beater, been on boat trips and on the beaches so often it must be covered in salt. Made of "fiber" and boasting a thin layer of fabric under the brim and tip. Great sun hat, I'm glad to have it revitalized.

This Cowboy Straw is made of palm and has a cattleman's crease. I wrapped it with a Chinese tie someone gave me and I'm calling it my China Grove hat ("It's a part of the Lone Star State...").

The best of the bunch, but still too gaudy to wear anywhere but the beach. Made of "rush/paja" in China (they were all made in China). This one inspired the sewing on of new ribbons because it had an ugly golf themed ribbon, and I don't golf.

Happy Memorial Day, everybody! Doff you hats for the soldiers and sailors that made the supreme sacrifice.
