If the alternative is that green beer nonsense they'll offer you, you're better off. Mind you, I'm in the same boat and seriously missing a decent drop of whiskey tonight. (Maybe just as well, by default I'm having a quiet one in on my own this year, and alcohol makes me maudlin.)

I live in a college town and the parties started around 9am... There are half-ne'ked students running through town... And though I miss those days... I don't miss the week long hang over that follows!

Aw, thanks Rats - it was a great day - the rain held off (mostly!) and everyone seemed to have a brilliant time - Dublin City was very, very quiet last night - I reckon everyone was laying low after the day before!

Our local liquor store puts Jamison's Irish Whiskey on sale for about $5.00 off ($15.95) for Saint Patrick's Day. I haven't finished last year's yet, being on a Rye Whiskey kick and all. I bought a back up anyway, Jamison's and water is damn good for $17 a fifth.

Seeing that ours is a college town it was crazy around here, even though we're like four blocks on the other side of main street from the college. Just the traffic around our house made me expect a car to crash through the window.

The Grand Marshall of the parade is former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards, an 83 year old Cajun who just got out of prison a year ago having served time for corruption charges; riding with him is his new 34 year old wife.

The night after his marriage Edwards is quoted as saying "It's not true what they say about oysters. I had a dozen of them last night, and two of them didn't work."

There were at least four St. Patrick's parades around New Orleans over the weekend. Enjoy the photos.
