Happy 4th of July to you all!

Here in Iowa, it is cold toay (mid-60's) and damp from rain so we decided to celebrate the day by staying home. My 90-year old mother would love to see a parade or some real fireworks, but would catch a chill.

Tonight, we will watch the Macy's fireworks on TV, have some popcorn and beer. I prefer it, anyway, to crowds of people.

Yes, and many of them brilliant men, who in their writings cited the Bible more than any other source. Yet let's not forget the Founding Mothers, too, such as Abigail Adams, who was a spy for the nascent Republic...

Happy Independence Day!

America
Centre of equal daughters, equal sons,
All, all alike endear'd, grown, ungrown, young or old,
Strong, ample, fair, enduring, capable, rich,
Perennial with the Earth, with Freedom, Law and Love,
A grand, sane, towering, seated Mother,
Chair'd in the adamant of Time.
