I've recently read a couple of references to leather being "hand-oiled before jacket assembly". Does anyone have any experience with such a specimen? I would be interested to know what is achieved by this practice or what it imparts to the leather in terms of hand and/or colour/tone.
Schott sells a brown cowhide A2 through a Japanese site using the "leather is hand-oiled before assembly" information in its description.
Ted
ps. And what kind of "oil" would they be referring to?
