This is cool, glad to meet fellow hams. Both my husband and I are hams. Since we tested on the same day we have consecutive call signs, which is pretty uncommon.

I was gung ho for morse but only passed enough of it to get to my general license. My husband just waited until they dropped the requirement... But his truck is bristling with antennas. He works a lot of hf and also the local repeaters. I get bored talking about signal strength and weather so I don't talk much anymore.

I do have a huge collection of old tubes and military radios and calibration equipment. We have an Elmer who is a genius. He worked in the Secret Service under several presidents and this guy really knows his stuff. Right now he's got my '62 Grundig Hi Fi! He can take a tube and make it do several different things.

You know, it's sad but when he does pass away it will be like the hugest library in the world just burned down. That guy has forgotten more stuff than any thirty people could cram into their brains. You don't meet folks like that too often.

73's, warm and sunny here.

A.

Nope, but am an SWL of many years standing. Mostly mil/util with a wee sideline in digital modes since it got really easy.

I'd like to do my exam some day, the thing holding me back most at the moment is being too busy to justify getting into something else that will be costly in terms of both leisure time and to a lesser extent... cash.

My grandfather was a ham in World War II (and till the day he died)

After he passed I found a book full of photo negatives from Pearl Harbor and Hawaii. I'm trying to get them developed, as they are very fragile. Hope you enjoy this one! I personally have no idea what it is, but maybe one of the hams can tell me!

I've recently put up an HF antenna and have been getting back on the air a bit after a number of years.

I thought that I'd bump this to see what other hams there are in the Lounge these days.

Thanks for bumping this thread. I wasn't aware of it until now. I am working on getting back to a regular level of activity too. My wife did some remodeling in the house which has left me shackless at this point. I've started moving my gear to a good spot in my shop. Hopefully that will prevent further displacement and I look forward to being back on the air soon. My call sign is K7IX. Been licensed for 38 years. That's kinda scary. Work mostly CW, but dabble in HF phone as well. I wonder if there are more hams out there? 73

KF4YAH is my call. I haven't been active as my antenna connections on my radio broke and I keep dragging my feet on repairs. I'm still a tech.

Kd5txx here. I too have a garage full of radios and tubes. I prefer CW but am slow with it. Anyone ever want to make a FL contact send me an IM. I'm good AM, SSB or CW.

Well, I am making progress. I have a fellow out to the house this week making me a six and a half by eight foot room in one corner of my detached garage/shop. It will be a warm in winter and cool in summer spot for the radio gear. First time I have had a real dedicated shack and I am pretty excited to start getting all the gear together again. It will be good to get back on the air. I've missed it. Besides the shack they are putting in some new lighting for the shop area which will be great for my automotive projects. First priority is getting the station operational though. 73

NN4JW here. First licensed in 1988. Most of my recent HF activity was in Navy-Marine Corps MARS, but that was abolished by the Navy this past September. These days I've mostly been exploring DMR - digital mobile radio.

Too many hobbies, not enough time.
