I have a first date..or rather, first time meeting..tomorrow with a guy I met on match.com. Sooo nervous!! It's my first time ever doing this and I'm a complete wreck. Keep thinking he's going to stand me up. We are going on a walk near Trump's golf course in palos verdes. how should i do my hair? my roommate says I should straighten it and not do the vintage look. any thoughts? i'll be wearing jeans and a red tank with a vintage type shirt over it.
also, should i wear red lipstick or just keep it natural?

Ooh, hrm...

First of all, dress how you feel comfortable, and do likewise with makeup. Do you like the way you look with red lipstick? Then wear it! ;)

As for your hair, well, don't try anything new, it may end up a disaster. I don't know about the straightening reccommendation, seems far too, I dunno, boring! It seems like so many girls straighten their hair--be different, stand out, use your natural beauty!

I don't think "vintage" hair and red lipstick is too much for a man to handle. Men always seem to appreciate the girly touches. I remember seeing a guy friend once & I asked him did he like something--I think it was my jacket--and he said yes, and he also liked my handbag. Dress up for him, make him think you wanted to look "done" for him.

How about just wearing your hair back in combs? A bit vintagy but not over done?
I'd go for the lipstick too. Best wishes!

Thank you so much for your responses, especially a gents point of view! Those were my thoughts as well, but my roommate was trying to convince me not to go that route. I think I will just go for the page boy style and the red lipstick:)

Hi Ladies

My date went really well which is saying something when it is some what of a blind date. We went bowling and then we went out to eat. Conversation and laughter flowed nicely and there was some flirting going on. He opened doors for me and paid for everything. Didn't try anything at the end of the night..we didn't even hug!! I think because we both got really shy and that he respects me. True southern gentleman:) He's not a retro guy, but I guess I can't be picky about that? He's a rocket scientist which I think is the coolest thing ever. I definitely would like to go out with him again. Hope he doesn't do the 3 day rule to call me!

Hmm...those with you with significant others, are your gents into retro or are they just regular joes?

I wish! I think I could get mine to do the Indiana Jones thing, but he is SUCH a t-shirt and shorts/jeans guy. I think his alter-ego is Tim the Toolman Taylor. :D

P.S. - Glad your date went well!!!

LOL! Yeah, Kenton is totally the khaki's and tshirt outdoorsy type guy. But, he's smart and funny. He kindof looks like Johnny Depp so that could make up for the non retro look:)

Ahh, thank you PolkaDotMeggie. You totally made my day:) It was freshly done by my hairdresser:) He always styles it in different 40's ways whenever I go in to get it trimmed. He loves it when I come in because he's so borned with the everybody wants the Jennifer Aniston cut. Since I'm growing out my hair, his goal is to get it like Rita Hayworths. *Sigh*, wish it was easy to do my own hair...he does it so fast and perfect. I have the worst time with the side rolls...top roll no problem.
