Hair, make-up... help?

Ok i feel a little out of place posting in this section and really dont know what to make of all the pink bottles and funny flower smell in the air

Anyway, as you probably know I am making a film in June. It is going to be set in the 1920s and I am wondering if anyone has any reference photos or info on the female 1920 look in terms of:

-Hair
-Make-up
(-Fashion)

I bought a book on recommendation (thanks Slicksuit!) that gives good examples of 1920s fashion but hair and make-up I am not to sure about and with a pre-dominantly male production crew it will pretty much be a case of the female lead doing her own hair and makeup or Indy getting in touch with his feminine side :/

Anyway what are the styles of the era? Anythign to necessarily include or avoid? Any tips or tricks?

From what I can tell the dresses were pretty straight lined (not very curvy)...think flapper dress...more cylinder shaped than hour glass.

Have you considered a wig:
1920s/1930s wigs...2 pages of wigs

Here's this if you're really ambitious.

Also, some dresses had drop waists like this one, making it more of a cylinder shape.

I'm no expert so anyone feel free to correct anything I've said. These are just my observations from pictures. Lauren Henline would probably be a good person to ask.

In terms of makeup, I'm thinking lots of mascara and bright lips...but again seek professional advice. I guess I have a pic of Betty Boop in my head.

Hi again,
She's got a great 20's face. She'd look great with dark eyes and bee stung lips!

A few questions:
*What year does it take place (if not a specific year, early or late 20's?)
*What's her station in life (i.e. class, social position, adventurer vs. fashion icon?)
*Where is the film to take place (Morocco, Paris, USA?)

Like in any decade, there are so many looks to choose from. And there were still distinct class structure within clothing and beauty (There wasn't the blurred lines like we have now until the 1930's, thanks a lot to the rising film industry) Clothing could also be structured very differently based on where you were. Like a girl in the late 20's in the desert would be ok with wide leg slacks or riding trousers, but a girl walking around paris wouldn't be caught dead in them. Fashion has a lot of egytian influence in the 20's thanks to the discovery of tut's tomb, but a western european girl living in egypt at the time would be more likely to be wearing linen or lighter colors.

If you have a college library near you they may have past newspaper issues on microfilm. I know that at a community college near me they have the New York Times on micofilm that had a fashion page every sunday. While the lower and maybe even middle classes would not meet up to this criteria, there should be images or even photographs from events that were happening in the times where you could see a variety of women and men's dress of all different class structures, and maybe even "specials" on people around the world.

Wow your knowledge is astounding!

Ok - the location is purely Scotland, UK.

Year - not too specific at the moment but definitly early - mid twenties.

Station in life - still trying to work this out. I am torn as to the character as to whether she shoudl be a strong woman or fit the steretypical image... this wopuld all affect her station. Leaning towards waitress in a bar in the remote highlands of scotland... or alternativly a learned person/ professor if that is consistent with the time period.
