I need a haircut...

Ive been growing it out a bit as I have a tendency to just take the clippers to it when I get fed up with it. Trouble is, it's mostly grey now and so lifeless that it's very hard to keep in in any sort of style. I don't mind being grey from the colour perspective - it's the fact that my hair now has no body that bugs me. No one told me that about middle age! ;)

Like many men today, I clipper mine too. No 5 comb. Hair is overrated - maintaining body and style is for Farah Fawcett... ;)

I'm not absolutely positive, but I think since some point, my hairline has been receding. That, or is it just the widow's peak or high forehead? What do you think's happening to the hairline? Am I balding at the age of 21?

Finally, here is a picture of me wearing my hair a different style, parted in the middle:

I have lately taken to doing this to hide some of my high hairline, and I've been told that it's a good look for me. I like sporting a pompadour or slick-back too, but I think that does emphasis the height of the forehead and hairline, what do you think?

You're worrying needlessly,...is what I think.
Everyone's hairline/hair density varies. Even from one time in our lives to another. Doesn't mean we will go bald in a year, or ever for that matter. "They" say that if one's male relatives on one's Mother's side of the family were bald,..then we will be too. Rubbish! Both my grandfather and uncle on my mom's side of the family went bald at an early age. I still have a lot of hair,....go figure. :)

Hmm, well although I personally don't feel ready to do it yet, at least on purpose, I wouldn't mind being bald someday... I think it's better than doing a combover, or looking like I'm actually losing hair. One positive is that I will actually have a very good reason to wear a hat. Anytime, anywhere.

I agree with this, don't panic. It's not uncommon for your hairline to change a little as you come out of puberty. I developed a nice widow's peak when I was 21, but my hairline has stayed the same ever since. I recently stumbled upon some old student ID photos which were taken about a year apart. You can see that I lost about half an inch, to an inch off my hairline just above the temples, but that was it. I still have a mane of very thick hair 20 years later. And I like the widows peak. Makes me look a bit sinister! ;)

Your hair changes every 7 years. So don't worry. Unless it drastically changes... And if it does... Go the Steve Carell route!

Sorry to be completely off topic but I've been told that this one looks a bit like Sir Sean in The Untouchables. I REALLY do not see it myself other than he facial hair and the hat!

I haven't seen The Untouchables, but your facial shape, and features are strikingly like those of Mr. Connery.

I agree. "You want to get Capone? One of his pulls a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's how you get Capone. That's the Chicago way."

I've probably posted in this thread before, i always used hair gel (IC hair polish as my go to) and got a sort of Wehrmacht haircut (its the closest to what i find appealing with the short back and sides, longer on top etc) but my problem is my hair is very wavy, even with gel it can be difficult. I really like the way brylcreem and pomade slick the hair back and keep it in place without making it a sort of helmet on top of your head, but for the most part they don't do the trick of keeping my hair neat and orderly. Problem with the gel is i spend half the day holding my hat before i can put it on, or risk messing up my hair or getting gel all over the inside of the hat. When its a straw hat it is kind of pointless to be carrying it pretty much the whole time the sun is out only to put it on when the sun goes down but its sort of how its been. Anyone else know this frustration or found a solution? I may try with pomade again soon, but with the humidity i shudder to think of how it will look.
