Black Boots-daily
Brown Walking shoes-occasionally
Black "Mickey Mouse" boots-when weather requires it
Black cap toe-rarely
Ratty tennis shoes-exceedingly rarely (When I don't want to destroy another pair of shoes)
Clean tennis shoes-I don't know when I last wore them

Only one pair of Blucher's? How is that possible for a guy from the UK? I always thought that the UK was the home of the Blucher? Are they too informal?
Marty Mathis

Interesting; I hadn't heard that before. Would you believe that I was so ignorant when I bought the bluchers* that it took me months to notice how they were different from my other shoes? As it is, I keep them for the colour (which is also why I bought them) but, if I were replacing them I would buy shoes with closed lacing.

*first or second year of university, so 19 going on 20

Anthony Jordan, that is a very impressive display of taste level. I'd love to see a close up picture of your Formal Pumps. Thanks for sharing.

(Well, actually a few more now.) The light ones tend to only get worn occasionally in the summer, as also the vintage black and brown Oxfords and the patent shoes, and the double-soled shoes, and the cheap pair I keep for snow and slush.

I'd say about ten pairs will see wear in a typical month.

Please tell me what those white ones are and where can I get some.

I fully subscribe to the view that there is no such thing as "too many shoes."

Well, me too,and I'm as much of a shoe queen as Governor Schwarzenegger (clearly an uncloseted metrosexual). Current count, about sixty pair, check with me in a few months. :)

I try to wear them all regularly. Some are seasonally or situationally specific, of course.

No wife (or in my case it would be a partner) to answer to, which is kind of nice because I never have to defend what I want to spend on. I just calculate my own desires in the matter. (Maybe I should start a "Confirmed Bachelors" thread. :))

That counts athletic shoes:

*New Balance 992 running, gray
Converse leather basketball, white
K-Swiss Classic leather tennis, white
Reebok leather walking, white/navy
Timberland Eurus water shoes, gray/orange

Boots:

Vasque Super-Whitney hiking, dark brown smooth leather
Timberland Gortex-lined Classic Trekker, medium brown Nubuck

Plus very casual casual footwear:

Eddie Bauer canvas deck, tan
*Sperry Topsider Cutter 2-eye, rust
Timberland High Performance Sailing, medium brown
*Timberland Echo Bay 2-eye canoe, dark brown
Timberland Altamont Fisher sandals, tan
*LL Bean double sole shearling-lined moccasins, dark brown
Cole-Haan driving moccasins, medium brown
Rockport World Tour walking, dark brown

And nice casual/somewhat dressy:

Rockport Dressport wingtip, cordovan
Timberland nubuck wingtip, rust
Seebago penny loafers, cognac
*Cole-Hann penny loafers, cordovan
*Cole-Haan Santa Fe Tie, medium brown
*Cole-Haan kiltie/tassel loafer, medium brown
Ecco Century Tie Boot, black

Finally, strictly dressy:

Cole-Haan cap toe oxford, cordovan
Johnston Murphy Crown Aristocraft wingtips, black

I wear them all fairly regularly, but the ones with the "*" I wear the most.

Whatever happened to the days we had three pair of shoes, "tennis" that we played all sports in, the school/work shoes worn every day, and some dressy ones reserved for church, weddings, and going out to dinner and the movies?

They are Church's "Bamford" Oxfords in white cape buck; I'm afraid I'm not aware of a current source (I bought mine on eBay from a shoe seller who appears to have bought a number of pallets of assorted Church's shoes ten or twenty years ago and be selling them off piecemeal - they also sold me the pumps) but you might ask Church's direct. For a similar effect (albeit without toecap) for less money you might try Sanders/Regent, who make uniform shoes for the Royal Navy?

Here's another picture:

Wow....those are beautiful though it must take FOREVER to polish them all.

But I :eusa_clap your collection!

You have all inspired me - I just order a pair of the Brentano's Spectators today.

Sweet collection. I have a major thing for shoes, in case no one had figured out from my avatar. :)

Me to. I have twice as many shoes that haven't made it into the rotation yet.

Brian, is your avatar a shot of Timothy Hutton as Archie Goodwin? You and I both have spectators in our avatars.
