Great new colorful shoe term! I agree with earlier posters. Beautiful but heavy. Wears out my feet by 2 PM.
I recently purchased 'lightweight' wing tips that really are a pleasure to wear and admire. I found them on Amazon:

Believe me, if you compare some nice v-cleat florsheims ro the AE, it's not even close. The shell AE uses is not near the quality of what Floraheim used during the v-cleat era

I don't find it hard to believe that others like them (unlike some styles) but they are not my thing. I already have big feet, and I see no reason to make them look bigger.

I have gunboats by Florsheim (Kenmoor longwings), Hanover (LB Sheppard longwings), Bostonian, and Nunn Bush longwings (old ones for Nordstrom-Best in Seattle). These are, without doubt, my favorite shoes. But maybe it's because I wear a munchkin 9 D. Now if I can just find my Nettletons with contrasting stitching I'll be happy.

Gunboats (aka clodhoppers) have always been my favorite kind of shoes. When they made quality shoes, I'd buy Nunn Bush, or Florsheim, but dang it, it's hard to find decent ones (without breaking the bank) these days. The last ones I bought, several years ago, were a couple pairs or Red Wings. With narrow feet, it's kind of hard to find shoes that fit anymore, anyhow:eusa_doh:
