I also enjoy looking at pictures of abandoned places. Thank you for the link! Many times I like to explore them too (locally). I like to think about what the place was like when people were there, because often these places are just left, without modernization.

I have a soft spot in my heart for abandoned homes, particularly abandoned farm houses and barns.

Great links! I've always been fascinated with abandoned places and found many in the large wooded area back behind my parents' house during our explorations when we were kids. I still get the urge to pull over and explore when driving down the road and seeing an old beautiful but abandoned house.

Me too! I always wonder what the circumstances were that made the family leave, and why no one else ever moved in.

Me too! I always wonder what the circumstances were that made the family leave, and why no one else ever moved in.

Me too! I wonder if something bad happened, or if the family lost the house, if they had no children, or what. I'm such a sucker for these places that abandoned houses rate really high on my list of desirable homes. My husband pokes around and says "there's holes in the roof, rot in the stairwell, and I can see outside and there isn't a window there" and I say "But it has such potential!"

I also wonder what happened when major changes are made to a house for no apparent reason. A center entrance Colonial down the street from my parents had the front door and stairwell removed sometime pre-1900. We've always wondered if it was because someone fell down the stairs and died.
