Anyone know of a good quality V-Neck undershirt made in gray?
I used to be able to find Ralph Lauren---not the greatest but pretty decent. Now I can't seem to find any in gray? BTW---Needs to be gray b/c you can't see them through white shirts...

Welcome wagon.

Welcome to the Lounge LA_ESQ. I've never heard of the grey not showing through the shirt. Does wearing the grey make your white shirt look darker or a little less white?

Not here to convince anyone of anything. In my experience, however, when you wear a white undershirt under a white shirt, you can see the white undershirt through it. This does not happen with a grey shirt.

Only question was if anyone knew a manufacturer of grey Vneck cottorn shirts....that's all.

Sorry. To answer your question, I rarely see them, but Newton Trading Co. makes three packs that include white, grey, and black undershirts in crewneck. Not sure if they're available in v-neck... the search for a Newton Trading Co. official website turns up nill. Still, I have a couple packs and the cotton is soft, breathable, and the length just right to stay tucked in all day. Look for them at TJ Maxx or Marshalls if you have one in your area. I used to work at one here, and they stock tonnes.

I think you're reading too much into our posts, though. We weren't trying to convince you to use white, or imply that you were trying to convince us of the opposite. We were trying to help based on your problem... I was confused since I've had none. The only problem I've had with a white v-neck is seeing the v... when wearing a tie. [huh] In that case, I use crewnecks. V-necks I save for an open collar. You can also see the short sleeves through a thin white shirt, but that's the case on any white undershirt and not very distracting to me. I feel a white undershirt helps enhance the brightness of a white shirt, personally.

What is your skin colour, if you don't mind me asking? Are you fair skinned, brown, black? You could always try black undershirts, too, which are included in those tri-colour packs I mentioned. The bonus with a black or grey is that they can be worn casually or for sports/working out without looking plain.

Jovan-
I think you're reading too much into your own posts.

From someone who thinks the use of undershirts is totally ridiculous anyway-
I can even see the point of a non-white.
BTW, Merry Christmas.

I'm not the only one who asked why not white! lol

Esquire's Little Black Book of Style no. 2 stated to use gray undershirts. I think the reason they stated that was because when you are wearing a very sheer white shirt (think linen) you skin underneath the shirt where the undershirt isn't will be a slightly different colur than where it is...
